Nothing necessarily great here but my first chance to shoot this lens with the Haida rear mounted ND filter. Using the 10 stop filter @ f/22, this is a 20 second exposure during mid-afternoon. Colors look very real to the actual scene. More experimentation to follow . . .
Hey all, can I ask a favor for anyone who has the NiSi S6? I'm trying to get the dimensions of the carry kit 'fully loaded', with adapter, CPL, etc.. to see if it will fit in my bag.
H (top to bottom) x W (left to right) x D (front to back) ?
EDIT - Also, where are you guys seeing the option for the neutral CPL? I see the Landscape and Pro S6 options, but not a "neutral" option.

I was just reading through the extensive Test at DIGLLOYD regarding this lens. I think he never praised a lens more in the past and bought his rental copy for himself.
He has very valuable real world tests and aperture series against many other lenses (Sigma 14-24, Zeiss Batis, Loxias, Sony etc.) showing the exceptional performance.
Sony really made an amazing, however expensive lens.
I prefer the 16-35 range and simple screw in front filters, personally, but otherwise this is an intriguing product.
Sony 12-24 GM @13mm, Nisi CPL+ND64, multi exposure.
Finding this lens an excellent 'work horse' for my landscapes, and using 12-14mm more than I thought I would. It only very rarely comes off my A7r4 now. I'm particularly enjoying the more dynamic shots I can get where lens changes are very difficult, like in this case where occasional waves were knee high.
I have however felt the need to switch to a heavier/sturdier set of tripod legs (5lbs wihtout ballhead) to make the most of this high resolution setup in more adverse conditoins. And also have to spend more time wiping dust and water off the large Nisi filters that I regularly use with it. But despite all that, I don't think I'll be going back to primes in this range.

Great shot! What legs are you shooting with that are 5lbs?! Is this just wind you're talking about or waves when you say adverse conditions?
I had thought of selling off my RRS TVC-24L legs and just moving full time to my Feisol travel tripod (CT-3441) but now I'm second guessing that. I've shot quite a bit with the 12-24 so far, but haven't really used it on my tripods yet.

Thanks for the comment. I followed an FM link to this website and happened to see the Gitzo GT4533LS on sale at a local store at a price too good to pass up.
It's both wind and water vibrations that I'm trying to minimise. I had previously used a Feisol set of legs myself (3 section) that I thought were pretty decent, but I was noticing some vibration in live view at max magnification with the GM, even with only moderate wind.
On the website, the Feisol scored under 1000Nm in terms of stiffness, so I decided I wanted something that was at least 2-3 times stiffer. When I compared the Gitzo and Feisol side by side in a 'tap the legs' test, it was night and day.

Ah, thanks! And are you using the same ballhead then? I'm curious if perhaps part of your vibration was due to the ballhead stiffness? Would you mind sharing which ballhead you were using previously? They're ranked on teh same site, though I'm guessing you knew that as well - https://thecentercolumn.com/head-rankings/ball-head-rankings/

I just measured my S6 adapter + CPL/ND64 + front and rear caps. You will need a space of about 17x17x5cm to store that combo. Presumably if you attach the rectangular filter holder, it will add a bit, but I don't own one so can't help there.

For now, I'm still using the same ballhead (Kirk BH-3). It wasn't the problem because the same head on the Gitzo performed much better than on the Feisol. The head looks to be rated at 2440 Nm on the website, which is much better than my Feisol legs (under 1000Nm).
But it's had a pretty hard life with me over the last 10 years, so it's due for replacement anyway. I'll take a good look at that table you linked to. Thanks.

Excellent shot.
BTW how do you find the Nisi filters for water repellency? I have some filters where no matter how I wipe, the water just smears the front and makes thing worse until I can get it completely dry.

Thanks kindly. I don't have an issue with my Nisi S5/S6 CPL or CPL/ND64 filters in terms of water repellency.

Absolutely love this image Richard. Very attractive sunstar and great composition.

Thanks Fred, that's much appreciated. I've settled on about F14 as my preferred sunstar aperture with this lens, where at a pinch some sharpening in post can bring the sunstar shot more in line with the rest of my focus stack taken typically at F7.1-F8. The only lens I can imagine displacing this one from my kit is one with comparable range, IQ, and flare resistance, but with 10 or 12 straight aperture blades. Not likley to happen anytime soon unfortunately.
