p.2 #3 · Wow. Venus Laowa announces 9mm full-frame rectilinear lens for Sony mount
There is no indication that these are optically different, customized to each sensor stack. It would be silly to buy a Nikon Zmount version (Or even a Sony E mount) and get stuck with it. The M mount can be mounted on multiple systems and can be made to focus even closer. Also, note that they do not come with an electronic chip like the Cosina lenses.

that's kinda silly. why would anyone use an adapted lens when the native mount is available? 🤔

They seem to be trolling Cosina with wider equivalents. Given their earlier releases all have dropped in prices fairly quickly, I will wait a few months.

This seems like a very cool lens. But 9mm is probably too wide for me most of the time, even though I love ultrawides.

Has anyone seen if the E mount (or any of the other) versions have electronic contacts for exif information? I've already got the CV10mm which I hardly ever use...

None of the Venus/Laowa lenses have contacts, unfortunately.

Any chance of lens profiles available for the popular RAW converters? Cosina have them available.

Not sure if anyone notices, philippreeve.net published a rolling-review and you may find the comparison against Voigt 10/5.6 inside.

If you check the "Distortion" section of my review or even Laowa's own product page you will notice there is already a profile for Lightroom available to download.
For the 10-18mm 4.5-5.6 back in the day I created such profiles and offered them to the readers, but I asked Laowa many times about this and I am quite happy they are now offering them directly, saving me some work.
As I am not a Capture One user I did not nag them about this and I am not sure it is even possible for a third party to create profiles. But as said: I am not a Capture One user, I don't know.

Got it today. Feels great and I really like the little focus ridge (removeable). The 100mm filter holder is also very well made (maybe in conjunction with the REVO ring maker H&Y). Will try to take some shots this weekend.
