Nice pictures all... I was just re-reading your review Fred, and I looked as some pictures of Phillip Reeve's review... This picture shows incredible sharpness, much better than my copy of 40mm at f/1.2... I am tempted to try a 35mm SE now
Love this lens but last night was a good reason why I still want to get the GM. Although the temperature was only about 16 it had to be close to zero with wind chills. We are fortunate enough to have one of these Ice Castles in NH. I think there are 4 or 5 locations across the country. The 35mm GM would have been Ideal as it sucks manual focusing with a mask and in the dark. It would have been a good test for Eye Auto focus. Anyway here are a couple images that turned out OK. I don't think I really nailed any to be honest but they look good enough on a phone screen If you have one in your area it is worth the trip.

If you are only using it on the Sony, get the 35/1.2 SE.
If you are using it with both Sony and Leica, get the 35/1.2 III VM. (Unless you are willing to buy two lenses)
So I got the 35/1.2 and it seems good so far! I noticed that to focus at infinity, I have to turn the focus ring back (maybe 1 millimetre), similar to what I did with my Ultron 35 with adapter. The Nokton being a native lens, is that something common?

How does viii compare to vii in terms of IQ? I am having a hard time finding info on this. There are statements saying that viii has improved IQ, but that is about all that I can find. No specifics or comparisons.
