Tony, I saw you listed 300mm for sale. So is this lense comparable to 300mm? Asking because I am really thinking buying Olympus again

Too vague a question. Comparing what specific aspects? I prefer the versatility of a zoom that covers many focal-length choices over a prime with only one fixed focal-length. Sharpness between two is close enough not be be a factor for me.

The prime has faster AF and of course gives you more light on the sensor.

You should just buy my 300 f4. Just make a litte trip into Canada. It is better than buying a new one, since it has my shooting experience.

This Black Turnstone is probing a barnacle to extract the soft inner food that is the most important item in their diet during the non-breeding seasons.

Love this shot. A few questions if I may. How much is this photo and the following two images cropped? ISO 1250 looks really good. Do you use anything like topaz for noise? Any troubles with the camera and auto focus for these?

Thanks. Out-of-camera jpegs of snow goose and grebe shown below. Virtually no cropping of the last image.

I use Topaz DeNoise AI and/or Photoshope CS6.

No troubles with camera or AF for those.

Thanks! Your answer just made my life really difficult. I may have to move to Olympus but so many worries about long term viability. Your work is great.

The cameras and lenses won’t stop working and there is a rather large supply of used bodies and lenses out there. Tomorrow is never guaranteed. Shoot with what works for you today.

As Bruce pointed out there's no guarantee. I will say all of the Olympus bodies and lenses I've owned have never had any issues, and I have used them in pretty extreme conditions. Even with my last 4/3 camera (Olympus E-3) - I kept it for 7 years after Olympus moved over to M43 and I only sold it as I wanted to get something new. I personally wouldn't worry. In fact I bought and E-M1X a little over a month ago to use with the 150-400 f4.5 Pro when its released this winter.

You’re welcome. Stop worrying, the sky is NOT falling.

Olympus makes reliable gear and will work for years. If it ever needs repair, Olympus will fix it, or any camera repair shop.

I think this is an immature Cooper's and it was playing with the cone as if it was practising with a bird.

Tony what a cool experience to watch this! I agree on the immature Cooper as the eye is not orange color yet. NICE!

Now, that’s a beautiful portrait, Tony. It doesn’t get better than this.

Cheers,
