This might be one of my favourite shots so far from 2020...bit of a fluke as I had to quickly zoom back as it flew into land on a railing next to me. This was the only shot in about a 10 shot burst that was both in focus and not clipped wings.

That is truly marvellous. One of the best BIF shots that I have seen. Sharp and not a very common bird for this type of shot, and beautiful background as well. Excellent work!

Very nice. Looks like the A9II with the 200-600 is the combo to have along with know how.

That is a beauty Geoff. Not surprised about what you described in the limited number of good frames. This is a very difficult photo for both you and your system. Is the Sony able to track focus while you zoom?

Thanks Morris. Yes it does seem to keep focusing while zooming. At least the green dots keep dancing on the subject. I don’t find myself having to do it very often as nothing comes close enough

So I haven’t really seen how accurate the focus is during a fast zoom and firing the shutter.
The best thing about the Sony 200-600 lens is that it only takes a quarter turn to go over the entire zoom range. Easy to do with just two fingers.

I might have had a little to do with getting the single shot framed properly and the A9 had a little something to do with getting a few of them in focus despite misses framing. But still I call it a spray and pray fluke for the most part!!
If you can send me those N95 masks you have I can go back to work at least for a couple of patients😜
