I fully expect to be wrong for buying FX vs DX, buying a body vs glass, not buying the D850 (or whatever is the latest/greatest), etc. That said, I generally get some useful insight in between all of the answers to questions that I never asked.
I had a D600 and D610, now have 2 D750's. Low light AF, grip depth and flippy rear screen are the biggest improvements over D610. Downside is build quality. D750 feels more flimsy than the D610. I rarely use the flippy screen and if I didn't shoot concerts and need the low light capabilities, I would have stayed with my D610. Amazing sensor. Plus the D610 is sooo cheap right now.

Deeper handgrip and skinnier body are the big items, but you really have to hold both to understand.
The D600 and D610 have very shallow grips, but they're not shallow enough to allow an altered hand position like the Df can use, your fingertips get shoved into the thick body in any position where the shutter and control dial are readily accessible. Picture a D7000 but with a thicker body removing the comfortable fingertip resting position.
the D750 however has enough grip depth for just about any hands to hold it comfortably.
It's a night & day difference IMHO. The D600/D610 are the worst grip designs Nikon has come up with, and I say that as somebody who has owned a lot of Nikon bodies over the years.
I should note that adding the MB-D14 grip doesn't fix the problem I have with the D600's grip design. ...Show more →
Eh, I would expect the grip is a bit user dependent. The D600 served me needs well enough that I grabbed a D610 when I ran across both it and the D750 at attractive prices at a used camera store when I was in BKK. (I wasn't out to buy a body, but the prices were attractive.) I was tempted by the D750, but was thinking about the benefits it provides for my usage. I handled both and decided to keep a few more coins in my pocket. I would say in general the D750 has a wider shooting envelope, based on the improved AF, but if that doesn't factor into what one shoots the is little reason to pay a premium for it. The grips of the cameras didn't factor into the decision at the time.
If I was just shooting for fun, the D610 is fine. Saying that, the D750 is definitely a better all-around body. I like it so much, it's deterred me from switching to the Z cameras and/or other Nikon DSLRs.

Most of the D750 improvement over the D610 is in the focus system, and especially in low light. What what you have said, I would think the D610 would be the choice based on price, unless she needs to shoot in low light, high iso.
So when we imply low light what are we talking about? How low?
He ask about TWO cameras, 610 or 750. That's the question!!
Go the D610, great for testing the FX format. And amazing deals on a new body with extras that you may or may not need (but free, and free is a great price). B-H deal

The D610 is rated to -1EV and the D750 is rated to -3EV.
The -1 EV roughly aligns with my experience with the D6X0. Shooting at F1.8, 1/30, iso 25K is about where I may need to explicitly focus on a high contrast area, rather than assuming that whatever I put the focus point on will be sufficient.
I didn't read into each individual's preference only the first post by the OP and here is my personal opinion:
Since the sky has already fell with millions loosing their jobs and many are posting their photographic equipment up for sales. Already seen brand new D750 prices very close to that of a brand new D610, and used prices are also very close. There is absolutely no reason not to pick up a new or a used D750 over the D610 for all the added features that I think many might have already stated above.
Since it is for your beloved daughter and not someone else, why not give her the very best a father can offer to show her your fatherly love? One can even use it as a backup when necessary.
I shoot bands in a lot of very crappily lit clubs. The autofocus just works in very little lighting. It has saved my ass in a wedding reception or two as well.

It's time to make the jump to FF. She shoots people/landscape/art stuff, no sports. So one shot at a time. No need for speed and not much need for very low light/high ISO shooting - she uses a tripod and rarely shoots people in low light.
I've used the D750. Fantastic camera. The D610 and the D750 are both outstanding for her needs. I would imagine the sensor output to be extremely close, if not identical. I do not put much stock in the expanded ISO range of the D750, and rarely pushed my old D850 and D5 beyond 5000 (although the D5 can totally handle it) photographing wildlife in all sorts of conditions.
My pick would be the D610. Reason being, it's cheaper. I just picked up a 'Near Mint' D610 with 58 shutter actuations from MapCamera (a very reputable camera dealer in Japan that I have worked w/ on multiple occasions) for under $600. They have several more in stock, so I recommend checking out their assortment on eBay.
With the savings, she can add more glass. Perhaps a used 18-35 3.5/4.5 G for Landscape or a fast, normal FOV prime lens (35 or 50)?
