Nokishita has the same info and all 3 new "SE" (35/1.2, 40/1.2, 50/1.2) lenses should become available for pre-orders in Japan tomorrow... Will be interesting to see what the "SE" lenses are all about. I have the current E-mount 40/1.2 and 50/1.2 and the VM 35/1.2 III and no budget for new purchases right now so will probably need to skip the new ones for the time being anyway.
The listed prices (as per Nokishita) for the new SE versions are a bit cheaper than the currently available versions which is interesting too.

A “Special Edition” wouldn’t mean much, so maybe it’s a “Silver Edition”? Either way, I’m looking forward to it!

Interesting that this lens came out so soon as an E mount lens and the 75 f/1.5 has not yet been offered as an E mount lens. Does that suggest that the 75 f/1.5 will not be offered as an E mount lens?

Perhaps the 75/1.5's optical design could not be easily ported to work well with the Sony sensor. Just speculation.

I'm so curious about the "SE". Will try to get some info on it.
Bastian posted his review on Philipreeve. It looks like a wonderful little lens.
On Bastian's review he writes:
"True infinity might have been a tiny bit behind the hard stop when the lens is used on my Leica M10, therefore the minor difference in sharpness in the center at f/1.2 and f/1.4 between Sony A7rII and Leica M10."
I saw the same thing with my 35/1.2 III VM sample on the Leica M240. I could not reach infinity with the lens and sent it back for calibration. It was a bit worse than Bastian's copy though. One of the reasons I didn't post any test with the Leica.

Probably Cosina will announce them in about 13 hours so we should find out soon My vision is that "SE" would stand for "Slim Edition" and the lenses would be the same size and weight as the M-mount versions, perhaps also not focusing any closer than 0.5m to make it possible. That could be in line with the cheaper prices Anyway, very curious to find out what they really are.

Can't review my overseas source but the "SE" versions won't include a 'de-clicking' mechanism making them smaller and lighter than the original versions. No other information was given on number of blades or other specs.
So Juha, we were right in a way the lenses will be smaller and lighter but I still don't know what SE means...perhaps Still Edition.

Really hope it's not Silver Edition. I'm a sucker for aesthetics and I don't have the money to rebuy my CV 40.
The "SE" models will be E-mount only, so they will be black. The new models won't have the option for the aperture to be click-less with savings weight, size and price. Perhaps other things will change like number of aperture blades but we will have to wait and see.

Fred, did you ask about the distance indicator which allows for 5-axis IBIS? I wonder if that may be one of the features that is missing in these SE models. It obviously would simplify the electronics if that wasn't included.

My source only knew that "SE" mainly means they are dedicated to still photography from the lack of the click-less ring mechanism. This makes the lenses smaller, lighter and less expensive. Of course the new SE lenses could still be used for video with clicking aperture stops. We should know more tomorrow.
The source assumed same optical design and other electronic features. I asked about the number of aperture blades but there was no certainty about that.
The new 35/1.2 SE and 50/1.2 SE should have 12 blades but the question is the 40/1.2 SE since the original version only had 10 blades.

I've just received a brand new Zeiss 35/1.4 ZM and unlike my CV 35/1.2 III VM copy, it focuses at infinity without any problem on the M240.
The Zeiss is spectacular at infinity distance. I don't see any mid-field dip which happens when using it on the Sony + PCX 5m front lens. At f/2 it's very sharp everywhere on the field and at f/4 is optimal for all zones.
I've tested it against the CV 35/1.2 III at a distance a bit shorter than infinity allowing it me to focus Voigtlander properly on the Leica body. I'm checking the results now. I did one rendering comparison at mid-distance as well.

I will post some 1:1 crops straight from LR shortly. I can already tell you that the Voigt can't keep up with the ZM at infinity at wide apertures. (At close distance is no contest)
The ZM on the Leica is at Sigma 35/1.2 level. I'm floored. Too bad we can't get this performance on the Sony even with the PCX front lens mod.

That's not surprising owning both, I've shot the ZM 35 1.4 for landscapes and it's sooo crisp stopped down. The degree of micro-contrast/pop (whatever you want to call it) on the ZM 35 1.4 is nuts too. The CV is better in other areas, but I definitely preferred the ZM 35 1.4 overall.
I am especially curious about the mid-distance around at 1.4 - 2.8 which is where I often shoot. Thanks for posting.
