pretty good shots, there is not doubt a good photographer could make the same frames with the 1DXII or the 1DX but it takes more effort to nail them and more trials (luck)
glad the new body is finally what the previous ones should have been, keep up the good work!

It is amazing what an old dinosaur brick of a camera can pull off when the right man is behind the wheel

Wow, Pius, these are all amazing. Unfortunately though, it doesn't tell me much about the capabilities of the 1DxIII, because I'm sure YOU could get very similar shots even with my old Rebel
TFS, I always enjoy your great shots!

Very interesting set and feed back of the flagship. This is a good and representative review of the AF performance, compare to statics charts or iso comparaisons.
Voted Pius !

Nice shots and nice soft light. Not really a test of the camera's autofocus capabilities. With subjects with areas of sharp contrast differentiation the autofocus has a much easier time.
It is with all white or all black or brown subjects (or people's faces) where the autofocus is challenged. Or take a flock of terns coming in for a landing and see how well the autofocus is at locking onto the bird in the center instead of ones that are closer or to the side.
Another situation that challenges the autofocus of a camera is having a subject rapidly approaching the camera. This is the achilles heal of cameras and the one situation where spending $7,000 on a D5 or 1d X can provide a significant increase in keepers.
