I just sold the ZA 50 1.4 because I wasn’t using 50mm much but now I’m seriously considering this lens. I had the 65 APO and I kinda miss it. The one thing that gives me pause is not getting the same 1:2 macro capability. I just love the rendering and colors of the Voigtlanders.
I’m also considering the Sigma 105 macro, but the thing that gives me pause there is I probably won’t be doing too much true macro and I also already have the 105 1.4.

Finally, considering the new 65 DG DN.
Decisions, decisions.
I agree with you on the 1:2 macro. I had the 65mm for a little over a year and would guess about half my shots were slightly outside the MFD.
This Sigma looks to have nicer mid aperture bokeh verses the Voigtlander- plus smaller. I'll probably give it a try at some point this year as a walkaround. After the Voiglander, I've come to appreciate the FL.

I ended up getting the Sigma 105 macro. I may add the Sigma 65, or exchange the 105 for it. As much as I'm moved and inspired by all these lovely images in this thread, from a utility perspective, the two Sigmas are ahead.
That said, Voigtlander rendering is truly magical. Part of me is wishing I got it first.
Ah I need to take out my 50 apo more often! It's truly an optical perfection. This weekend I shot some shots with the sigma 24-70 2.8 dg dn lens taht I've really grown to love more than I thought I would but I need to get the voigtlanders out this next weekend. The 21 1.4 and 50 apo need some fresh air!
Guys. This APO-Lanthar intrigued me, but for me I confirm some facts. The pink tint exists and the Carl Zeiss filter doesn't help as it was in place. The test was extreme because during sunset. The color of the Apo-Lantar is not amazing compared to the real Carl Zeiss, who can bear his father's name instead of inheriting the surname ZEISS. Finally, Cat's Eyes will spoil all your stuff. They are unacceptable. I also noticed disturbances in image processing in the camera. The sharpness of the photo seems to be digitized. It is not 100% made by optics. This is my opinion about this lens. After this test, unfortunately, I return the lens because it is not worth the price.

Guys. So either Sony is conspiring with Cosina to take down Zeiss by juicing APO-Lanthar images in camera or Cosina has finally hacked Sony cameras to make images highly corrected and digital like some of the smaller m4/3 lenses.
I show an average photo that convinced me to make a decision. Apart from the colors, DOF works differently, and in the portrait it is so dynamic that you can see it melting. Pictures are to be liked. I wouldn't show anyone the portraits from APO Lanthar in the E version. Certainly the landscapes are great because they do a lot for the photographer in the post-processing. However, this as a universal glass is not for me. The IMHO Cosiana company released the "new style" glass a bit late, because it is the perfect DOF optics for stereoscopic in 3D TV technology. Unfortunately, the technology has died. Photos would look the most beautiful on a large screen with 3D glasses in 4K / 8K resolution.
There are already tests of the APO Lanthar lens in the M version similar to the ZM Planar, only the Planar is weaker than the APO on the corners, but this is only due to the constant problem with matching the matrix to the optics.
Congratulations!! You will love it. I just really enjoy using my 50 APO. It never gets in the way and there aren’t flaws to worry about. I just get on with shooting or taking a pano with it and get creative.

No idea what the last few posts are about but I just joined the 50 APO club! 🙌🏼
Thank you! I had the 65 APO but sold it (regretfully). I’m looking forward to using the 50. The form factor is definitely a plus over the 65. I’ve started to sell off my big lenses for smaller, and in many ways, better, counterparts.

Got my lens today and was able to take a few shots. It's a lot smaller than I thought it would be. Having had the 65 APO before, I was thinking it would be slightly smaller, but not this small. I love it!
Obviously not taken with the 50 APO, but giving it some love with the 135 GM
The CV 35 APO was just announced. ( see the 35 thread for links). The M mount version looks identical to the 50 but a bit longer. Uses the same hood and 49MM filter thread. Interesting that, as with the CV 50 APO, the E Mount version is slightly sharper than the M mount in the center wide open. But unlike the 50, the 35s seem to be the same basic design and of the same glass types.
I have an old 180 APO, which I like a lot, so I browsed the images on the 50mm APO thread and the 110mm APO thread. The difference in overall IQ displayed between the two models is remarkable. The two lenses seem to have very little in common. One lens has a lot of "boing" and 3D while the other looks flat and drab. Am I seeing this wrong?
