Some more side by side comparisons of the ZA and the APO. To be honest, the differences (other than the vignetting on the APO) are pretty minimal. Please note that downsampling is wiping out a LOT of detail in these images that is present in the originals. The sharpness of both of these lenses is super impressive on the originals. Is there some way to avoid this?
I didn’t notice it on my computer screen, but in my phone it appears that the CV 50 is either providing more dynamic range (if that’s possible for a lens to do) or perhaps has greater light transmission than the 50 1.4 ZA at the equivalent aperture. I’m noticing slightly more forward highlights - although the APO nature of the lens may be doing that also. Anyone else see it?

The faster shutter speeds of the Voigtlander support your transmission theory.
Yesterday evening it cleared up and my daughter and I headed to a hill overlooking Flathead Lake. The arrowleaf balsamroot was in full bloom. Just before golden hour a big dark cloud covered the sun and spoiled the potential of the scene somewhat. We haven't had the best of luck with sunsets here for for time. However, I thought this lens did a great job!
I put a circular polarizer between the lens and hood. The way the hood screws into the filter actually makes it super easy to turn the polarizer--you just turn the whole hood. You just have to be careful not to unscrew the filter at the same time, but I'm quite happy with how well this works.
One characteristic I am noticing in flower pictures from this lens is a beautiful rendering of bright edge light on stems and flowers.
I hope editorrr is OK with my copying his photo to illustrate this. edge_light by

I am trying to decide if I still need the 55mm Zony - the 50mm APO has basically supplanted it on my A7R4.
Depends on if you need the AF. I got rid of the Zony 55mm as soon as I received my Loxia 50mm. Once I got the CV Apo 50mm there is definitely no need for a 55mm. Takes more time to shoot portraits with a MF lens but for the rest of non time critical photos it is manageable.
