I have many harrier frames under my belt but this happened to be a unique frame from SoCal. The recent storms have brought an early wave of snow across the state and the snow covered mountain top provided a unique back drop for this image not commonly seen or associated with this low land raptor, at least in CA. Hope you like it

Thanks for sharing this lovely shot. Couple questions for my learning:
1. I'm presuming you were at F8 with the 500PF+TC1.4III combo. How well does D850 tracking work for you at F8 (vs. F5.6)?
2. Have you tried the D500 with this setup? I'm curious if your keeper rate is better with the D850 (vs. D500) for the 500PF+TC1.4III.

Thanks for your comments, yes it was f/8.
Unfortunately both D850 and D500 are Somewhat poor when it comes to AF at f/8 for serious BIF work. Here I had no other choice because I was traveling and didn't have my big six, the birds were far and I had to use the TC but I would avoid it where possible. Only the D5 has acceptable focus performance at f/8 (see my review http://arihazeghiphotography.com/blog/nikon-d850-review/)
Beautiful image! The snowy background is unusual but it looks great. The position of the bird, the light, the position of the head and the catch light in the eye all add up to a great image.
