I’ve had it redirected to a FedEx location so I’ll either pick it up tonight or tomorrow.

FWIW to anyone asking I ordered from B&H. They don’t charge until they ship.

Looking at the https://sonyalpha.blog/ review I find this lens extraordinary. I'm sure some ppl will grumble about the flare, but I think even that is very pleasing to the eye.

Im torn because i would at least have to sell something. I have the 12-24 not going anywhere but I also have the GM 24 and the Sony 35 1.8 than of course the Batis 85 and Sony 135/ Technically I could get to Three AF lenses if I wanted 12-24. 24-70 and 135

I still have my CV 21 and 75 plus buying the 50 on hand. Im trying to buy a new computer and sell my homes and downsize at least that is the talk right now. My daughter wants to buy my home. Too much crap going on

End of day I dont need 3 24 FL. My bet this Sigma is good at 24mm

I use the 24 gm and tamron combination..they share filter sizes which is convenient. If the sigma was mind blowing, I'd have considered it, but that doesn't appear to be the case.

I have pre-ordered the Sigma, will have to decide whether to keep it or to sell the golden copy of the Sony 24-105.

The Sigma looks really attractive even compared against the 24-70GM, but personally I'm keeping my 24GM and a newly acquired Tamron 28-75. The main thing that would hold me back is the added weight of the Sigma - assuming I am indifferent about the superior IQ of the Sigma, 300g is a huge weight penalty just to get 24mm at F/2.8 when I shoot 24GM wide open most of the time anyway. Alternatively the Tamron 17-28 + 28-75 combo also doesn't weigh a lot more than the Sigma alone and is much more versatile in terms of reach.

Yeah, the Sigma 14-24 in place of my Tamron 17-28 is a bit tempting, but I don't really have a need to replace my 28-75mm. If I used it a lot more for people shooting, I probably would think about upgrading it for the nicer bokeh, but I use my 28-75 about 90% for landscape work, and it looks very good when stopped down, even on the A7R IV (and is plenty fine wide open across about 75% of the frame). I have no doubt that the Sigma is a smidge sharper, but it really won't matter much in practical use, and hiking around is where the weight savings matters most.

The 14-24 is a bit different....14mm is a lot wider, and while I have a Voigtlander 12mm f/5.6 for the extreme wide end, the 14-24 is sharper than the CV12, and a bit better than the Tamron as well....but the lack of filter use right now has me sticking with the Tamron there too. That one I could see myself flipping on at some point, though. (and I'd probably sell both the Tamron and CV12 in that case).

I have the 24 GM/ Tamron 28-75 combo as well...the 24 GM gets used too much for me at 1.4-2.8 to sell it, and the Tamron is either used in non-critical situations were ultimate IQ isn't as important, or stopped down a reasonable amount for landscapes, so not sure I'd see the IQ benefits based on my applications.

Having said all that, if a bunch of incredible samples come back when comparing to the Tamron, maybe I'll bite the bullet and make the upgrade.

it looks like the best 24-70 you can get for E-mount

having a 2.8 zoom blow your mind is a difficult task if you have any fast prime

it's a good thing it's not in stock, I have the occasional GAS attacks, and found myself calling a few vendors with no luck, close call.

It would appear that we are in for a repeat of the Tamron's release; Sigma is already apologizing for supply shortages:

I agree with both your first and second statements, and haha re the third!

The other problem is that the Tamron is already very solid and arguably a bargain as a workhorse normal zoom (if not mind-blowing). So it's a crowded space. But, great for we consumers that there's an excellent choice in every price bracket.

Damnit i am about to get my bonus at work and all these great options lately are difficult to choose from 🤔🤭😁

For me i am skipping the sigma 14-24 this time because i need filter threads. No more lunging around big heavy custom filters. I smell b&h coming up with awesome lens sales/rebates come again near end of the year like they did last year! The GAS needs releasing! I've been a prime shooter for so long maybe it's time to dive a bit into the zoom world 😁 I am gonna have to try this sigma 24-70 at samys camera to judge if they got a good copy.
