Nice to see the 800L put to work...I don't see much posted from it these days of lightweight 600/4s.

My doctor bought a 70-300G for his wife, dropped it off for me to see if he got a good copy since he
knows my 70-300G is a great one. So here's a plink from his wife's Christmas present. ISO 4000 destroyed
a lot of detail but looks fine to me. Shutter 1/1000? Just me being paranoid about all those mpx's.

Darn, this is amazing. How did you manage to get this combination to work? AF settings?

Love the Canon cannon! It is clearly up to task. I really like my 500 f/4 on this body though it won’t rack the lens. I have to manually focus 80% of the way and then press the af and it will lock on tack sharp. Do you see similar behavior with the 800?

It is the same I find that it hooks better with the real trackin, but I use it for subjects laid for performance at 600 mm sony

Sorry so late in reply....been working a week, now free for a week
I followed Mukesh's directions. He posted them here at FM.
Also, if you follow Mark Smith's directions-

You'll do fine.....for big birds like Eagles, Egrets.....consult the Canadians for the hypersonic jet propelled bierds

I know you complain about your backyard selection but I know if we switched backyards for a day both of us would be super excited about the other's yard. I've never got to photograph Blue-Jays, Tit-mouse, Red-bellied WP or dare I say it, Northern Cardinal!!

Likewise, I'm sure you'd enjoy my Steller's Jays, Chestnut-backed Chickadees, Bushtits and Anna's Hummingbirds and a few others.

As always Geoff you are 100 percent. Grass is always greener, and indeed one good crack at the Anna's or Stellar's would make my year.

This is my first Kingfisher! Very heavily cropped, down to only 2 MP JPEG. We have cardinals here too.

Both taken with the Sigma 105 1.4. The first was cropped pretty heavily.
