When it comes to this lens, the photographer often seems to get all the kudos (which is actually refreshing). When it's not this lens....then there's more talk about the lens. But this is a more gear oriented forum.
I think it's the Rodney Dangerfield of zooms, at least with some people.

I'm glad that this thread can hopefully help the doubters see this fantastic lens for what it truly can do!
Ronny, between yourself and Joshua, you're both making me wonder why I don't pull out my 24-105/4 lens more. (Oh, wait . . . now I remember . . . it's heavier than a couple of light primes . . . I'm being a wuss, I know!)
Your landscapes are beautifully sharp and detailed - are you typically focus stacking?

Thank you very much, Brian! And no, I don't do focus stacking infrequently and if I did, I specify it, unless I forgot about that completely

Great shots Joshua from one of my favorite spots on Earth!
I will be back in Italy in about 4 weeks. The Dolomites this time. I will have my trusty 24-105 with me for sure.
Steve, thank you very much! Yes, the area is very photogenic. Enjoy your time in the Dolomites! I will be going to Ecuador for some bird photography by the end of October/early November.
24-105 as Portrait Lens
I know this lens is great for landscape. Does anyone have any shots that shows how it does as a portrait lens? F4 may not be not ideal for portraits, but at the long end it looks like it might work well.
I'm sure there will be much better examples posted....
