Well if rumors are accurate it'll do up to 6K@30p. That alone requires a minimum of 25.2MP, so if we do get 28MP sensor, that would imply a full sensor readout. That would be nice. It would tie in with the further rumors of a 30fps mode. Maybe they will offer a stills like 6K mode giving short 6K bursts and/or do some sort of prebuffering.

Their past history
EOS was pretty mind-blowing!!!
How about IS in all the big whites, I’d say so.
The 5D was pretty mind-blowing too, as was the 5ll.
I found the 5Ds pretty mind-blowing every time I pixel peep a portrait! All the Nikon guys were pretty mum about that!!
The 7D and ll were mind-blowing as well.
The 1Dx is a workhorse, I shoot mine in the pouring rain and it’s never skipped a beat!! Anyway, that sure blows MY mind!!!
I’m pretty darned sure the mklll will blow it better!!! LoL

You are an easy man to please if all those releases blew you away! Canon is lucky to have you on their side as they will need guys like you who haven't tasted the finer things to keep spending $7K on new DSLRs in the year 2020.

I thought the same, If those were all mindblowing releases to me, then the M50 and 5D4 would have just scattered my head to the 4 walls in this room. I mean, AF at f13 with a long slow lens with a 2x? Or a sports-oriented camera with 30Mpx for all the cropping power I need along with great high ISO results?

Where are these tasty finer options?

In the last few years I've seen no camera's that I'd be willing to spend multiple thousands of dollars on.

Lots of nice things out there. Even cameras like an EOS R will get you much more pleasing photos from water's edge by utilizing flip screen. But most of the finer options I've tried come from other manufacturers and anytime I mention those on this board I get told to leave because I guess one has to have enough CPS points to post on here these days (funny how every week I get a new email from CPS to renew my membership, I guess they still value my CPS points ). So I'll just keep my mouth shut about the tasty finer options I've experienced over the past 3 years.

The last $7K camera I bought was the 1DXII and I never regretted that purchase once. I don't think anything out there today would cause me to spend $7K again no matter MILC or DSLR and no matter from which company.

My next planned "evaluative" purchases in the planning stages:
1) A7RIV
2) Used D5
3) EOS R
4) 90D

Don't know which of those will happen or not.

Just curious, why are you posting in a thread about a camera that you obviously don’t want or care about? Don’t you have that extremely photogenic Pygmy owl you could be shooting with that nice Sony gear?

Because it is a free world, I've owned every 1-series since the 1DIV and I can do what I want. Why does it bother you so much? Are you buying a 1DXIII no matter what? Is that why you feel you have the right to post here? FFS you guys are ridiculous on here these days. I've spent years sharing my reviews and tests, photos and opinions about Canon gear on here and I still own more Canon gear than any other brand. If only people considering buying a $7K 1DXIII were allowed to post this thread would be buried on page 9 by now.

I'll be shooting the Pygmy on Saturday but I'll be using Canon gear so after that am I allowed to post here?

It's not really that I won't spend $7K on a camera body. I just don't see anything out there that's worth it. It's been awhile since I bought anything camera related.

Some things I like:

Sony 200-600 but no body that I really like.
RF lenses but no body that I like.
Nikon PF lenses seem very nice but I don't think I want to spend money on the old mount.

Everything has a caveat. I'm stuck in a wait zone.

It only bothers me that you’re being snide towards people in this thread who are just expressing excitement about this camera. I don’t care how much gear you’ve owned, that’s all great and I’ve owned/own everything you listed and then some. It’s just getting old seeing people constantly talking about how bad DSLR’s are when there’s literally one mirrorless camera (I guess one and a half now?) on the market that competes with any flagship DSLR. And no I’m not going to buy this camera unless it actually addresses the issues I have with the 1DX II, I’m not about to blindly spend that kind of money just because of brand loyalty or some other idiotic fanboy mentality.

I've been very neutral in every post on here. Discussing pros and cons of each system. Saying what I'd want to see from a 1DXIII, the vast majority on this thread don't seem at all interested in buying one. Maybe complain about them to keep things fair?

I only own a single MILC...I own 4x as many DSLRs. I certainly don't back MILCs...in fact up until this point there are only two I'd fully rely on for my shooting and one of those isn't even available to purchase yet.

Maybe take 5mins, go back to page 1 of this thread and actually read what I wrote in each post since August. Then come back and tell me all I'm doing is being "snide" towards people. Are you cherry picking my one comment to JohnSil? Are you upset that I asked you how you will know the 1DXIII has the best AF performance before preorders open? I have no idea what you are referring to.

Awwww come on boys, no fighting no biting!!! LoL
I’m new here, I didn’t even know you owned a stuffed pigmy owl?!?! what a great idea!
Hey, just kidding!!!!
For years all I’ve been hearing is, “focus peeking, focus peeking, focus peeking”!!!
Of course Sony had focus peeking, they had NO lenses. Sony shooters were scrounging old Canon manual lenses just to use the cameras!
By the time they got the focus peeking perfect, even the victory lap was already done!!! LoL
I’ve got nothing against Sony or anybody switching to it. I personally get the shots I need with the crappy Canon gear I own and don’t need or would consider Sony, if my gear works for me! Personally I wouldn’t spent $7K on a camera either because one generation back gets the job done for me. I don’t need to oooh and aaah, just get the job done!!
I only shoot a handful of big events per year where I see a lot of other pro sports shooters. And except for a few Nikons and one or two Sonys I still only see a sea of white lenses.
Most of the Sony’s and Pano’s are being used to shoot video.
On another forum there was a militant Sony guy and when I told him that in Rio I didn’t see any Sony’s, he said it was too long ago. Well in 10 months are the Tokyo Games, I hope I don’t feel like an idiot with my Canon!!! LoL
BTW, the first tier of CPS is FREE, so no need NOT to join !!!

Not in Canada, it is $100/yr for the lowest Gold level. But in Canada as CPS (even Gold) I get over $2K off a 600III and about $800 off a 1DXII (should be the same for the III) so I will be back on the saddle as soon as I decide to buy either or those.

Of course if the 600DO comes out, I'll be back before the press release paint dries.

If Canon comes out with a 600 DO, there will be A9’s and D5’s abandoned in the gutters from Photogs in a hurry to get back to Canon!!! All those travel nature photographers...., WoW!
I’ve only once handled the new 400 DO and it was SOOO small and light that it felt like a toy lens!
It was being used by a motorcycle mounted photographer at the Tour of California bike race, for the obvious reasons!!!

I bet all those nature photographers will be trading in their Porsche cars (or similar shiny toys) towards a 600 DO lens

Porsche "owners" add toys to their collection, "lessee's" trade I hope the 600DO is F2.8 at 7lbs.

In Australia they changed the rules about 7 years ago, unless you derive the majority of your income from photography, no CPS allowed no matter how much gear you own. Sucks big time that they have different rules around the globe.

Nikon does have PF lenses and I'd say it's more likely we'll see a 600 f/5.6 PF before a 600 f/4 DO. I'll never be able to afford the 600 f/4, already in Australia the 600 III is nearly $17K and the DO would be a fair bit dearer. Still not as bad as Sony, they want $22K for the 600 f/4.
