Thank you, Mukesh! I need the lens cover for this bad boy. I am using a few pieces of my previously sold Canon lens and the best fit one is for the lens hood. I banged the lens hood the other day against something and fortunately the cover is on .
I bought from them for the 400 f/2.8 previously. Excellent quality and the least expensive. The edges of each piece is stitched so it does not easily fray.

Shalu, awesome images! I am really impressed how well the lens performs with the 2X TC on.
Yes, I did the same, I had left over Travel coat for Nikon 600 VR, modified ( more accurately cut it in pieces) to fit the lens for now. it looks so good that I was wondering, if I need the cover or not. Having thicker material of travel coat does do a good job snugging the body. Anyway , it's long wait time to arrive it from Hong Kong but no other option at this time.

I have one brand new in the box that I may consider selling. Goes without saying I'm not selling at list price, but would obviously not ask anything too crazy for anyone here. Picked up locally the only allocation in Pasadena.

I have been using this lens in the last 2 days at 2 different birding locations. The optical performance is just superb. Although I have been pleased with the AF performance as well but I am not 100% convinced... yet. I simply haven't had the chance to fully evaluate it. Is the AF performance better than my adapted lens? You bet! With that said it is time for me to sell both adapted lenses for my wildlife and birding needs...
Here are a few images from the last two days. The first 3 images were taken this morning. I used a tripod and my A7r III to showcase the IQ that lens can pull. The last 5 images of a burrowing owl carrying a June bug it its beak were taken handheld (phew, not easy to do that for an old fart ). The total frames of the sequence was in the high 20's, using Zone AF with Tracking. And yes, all of them were critically sharp. I am planning of using a monopod at the next outing to catch the flying action though.
As a side note: The vegetation around the spots at both locations sucks.... I wish I could remotely operate a grass trimming device . Just FYI, the images were cropped as needed and edited using LR and PS.
Thank you for stopping by. Please, please post your images taken with that lens using any Sony camera here. ...Show more →

All this shots are to show the performance of the lens at various distances and some are cropped heavily. Please, forgive me for the composition choices here.

Very impressive, Mukesh, very impressive! Where is this place at? The eagle and cormorants are very active and well, hungry, of course.

Doug is right, it's Conowingo Dam, Maryland. Wasn't much eagle activity so end up shooting and Cormorants, and they put up a great show for us.
Where exacty do you shoot from and park for taking these photos? You, Douglas or anyone else can answer this. The reason that I ask is that when I go to visit my close friends in Churchville, MD I cross the Dam as I come from near Allentown, PA.
ke3vg Thanks for the link. Looking at the site - the cover for the 100-400 was only $9.99 - and based on that plus the description, I wondered if it was neoprene or just nylon cloth.
Would be great if you can let us know when yours arrives.
