Those are absolutely gorgeous, Joshua. What time of day was that?
You gotta love this lens, especially with the A7Riv. Once again, handheld and cropped 1:1 (I would sell the tripod except I like astrophotography ). More at the Sony Birds and Wildlife Thread, here.
Hi Kim, thank you very much for your kind words. It was fairly early in the morning; I would say between 8:30 and 9:00. I downgraded my tripod after I bought that lens recently. It is lighter and more compact and yet, can handle the lens, TC plus camera well. There is no way I could get that low without a tripod while following the target. Hey, we are getting up there age-wise and I know we are in the same age group, Kim .
Great image you got there, too, Kim! Keep up the good work!

Love the bokeh of this lens and love the detail of the lens and A7Riv combo..
Also shown in the Sony Birds and Wildlife thread.
The sharpness is just wonderful, Kim but the bokeh is somewhat weird, I would say. What it is? Rushing water? Somehow at f/4, I am expecting that a lens of that focal length to produce smoother bokeh. Just IMHO, of course.

The background was swampy water. The sky was cloudy, thus dark, and areas of moss growth ended up lighter. The lens turned that into a swirling mess, which I initially thought was interesting.
Coincident to your comment, after I posted the image, I started working on it because it was too dark and harsh and took away from the bird. Funny how things that I initially like a lot, I grow to not like 😕. There is a post in another thread about reviewing your images after they sit a day or so that is very apropo.
