One from this evening around my local area... he was on scent trail. This was right after he sniffed the ground. Of course he had to stand in the only shady spot within 100ft of him... lol. I did what I could to bring him out of the shadows.
A few coyote images to share. I ran across a group of three while visiting Bosque del Apache south of Socorro New Mexico. It's been 16 years since I've been able to capture a decent shot of a coyote, it was fun seeing these three. The running shot, the young coyote stayed on the road and trotted past me, so close I couldn't focus anymore. Good times.
Braving the joint stiffness and pains, I ventured out yesterday morning with my lens after approximately 4 months of hiatus… These images are not earth shattering but they do mean something to me for that reason.
Now, I am striving to keep the size of my file fairly decent. For that reason, unless necessary I will just use LR to do the editing. As such, all 3 images here were edited without PS at all.
Awesome image from Churchill, K! I notice some catchlight in the eyes of the bear that I like. I was wondering what causes that… BTW, please post some more.
Thanks a lot Joshua. I don’t remember our exact scenario/setup for this specific shot, but I assume those catchlights could be either from the Sun on our back or possibly from the headlights of our SUV which we typically parked right behind us with the doors open in case the bears got any closer than comfort and we had to jump back into the car.
And yes, I posted a few more on a thread on N&W forum.

Just another capture from a local spot… Not until next year when I will be traveling again…
This male hooded merganser just caught a crayfish but there are competitors nearby. It didn’t fly away but it did fly low just above the water to get away from some potential thieves. This is a frame of a sequence. BTW, I have seen and photographed cases of meal stealing among the merganser population there. The victims though are mostly female mergansers…
