Anna's at MFD with 1.4x. The little fellow was taking a nap baked under the sun. Temperature rising to the 70s this week in the Bay Area. Hopefully this can expedite virus dying off.

From this morning's kayak...
Geoff, great shots as always. What is your kayak setup? Peddle or manual? Brand? Is stability an issue? Is it tricked out with a tripod mount or gimbal head? I've been thinking of investing in one for our local saltwater marshes.

I'm using a Wilderness Systems Pungo 120. Manual paddling. No tripods or heads, just handholding. That kayak is very stable and has a huge opening so lots of room to just lie my camera/lens on my lap/between my legs and raise as needed. My paddle just rests across the kayak tucked up against my torso when shooting.
Now I will say that a peddle system would be an advantage so you didn't have to juggle the paddle and so you could sneak up on birds more easily without the movement of the paddle.
I will say that birds are still very shy of the kayak. Just because I am on the water with them instead of on land doesn't make it easier to get close. In fact, I can get closer and be more stealthy on land. I can also get a lower angle for waterfowl on land. But kayaking is fun and I still enjoy taking my camera along as sometimes I do run into interesting things and BIF opportunities (usually because I scare them off).
