I shot with a guy on the trip who was enjoying the FE 600/4. I reflected back on Conowingo and getting to hold Mukesh's. If I could turn the clock back! So still hoping the FE 500/4 will be palatable to my spine..but in the meantime I have to wonder if I want to give up the zoom-flex for fixed and how many shots I'd miss. This one on Lake Kissimmee airboating where the bierd suddenly came around a weedy corner...200mm. Would have been a loss with more mm's.

Florida is the place where a nice zoom comes in handy....not so much where I live. My last trip to Florida I used my Nikon 200-500 a lot of the time for the zoom versatility. If I was going back now, the 200-600 would be top dog even if I owned a 600GM.

Geoff our trips are often 'walking' trips. Poof just loves to walk and has a real hard time staying in one spot waiting out a shot. One day last week we logged 6 miles (via Endomondo/GPS) at Circle Bar B then drove to Orlando Wetlands for another 4 miles. You've all heard me whine about getting old and creaky. That I can carry the a9+200600 10 miles says a lot about the combo. I was in bed before dark that day though

Photo cross posted in the Sony FE Image Thread and taken at 10:56 AM.
Looking at a small portion of the flock of Snow Geese that had taken off. I would estimate that thousands of Snow Geese had congregated beyond the retention ponds behind our home and onto the flooded land on both sides of the creek on the other side of the retention ponds (on the one side farmers fields were flooded).
Tripod mounted 200-600mm G set to 600mm and A7rIII; silent shutter.
ISO 1250, f9, 1/640 second.
Exposure corrected +0.20 Stops.

My GOSH, these images are spectacular!!! The detail is just phenomenal!!!!! I doubt the eye could pick up such detail if standing right next to the subject!!!!
I must re-think DSLR's!

Dan, talking about details, how about this one?. If you click the Flickr link, then you can click on the image itself a couple times to get the biggest magnification, you can see the hair in the eagle's nostril. Shot with the A7RIV and the 200-600.

Douglas, this is indeed spectacular!!!! I am aghast at the detail with the a7rIV with any lens but especially the 200-600 and 600 mm's.!
I am definitely re-thinking switching to Sony!
