Good ones Douglas!
The Godwit image looks a little more noisy in comparison with the others. I was wondering why, because the ISO is similar to all the other images.
Was it perchance cropped a lot?
Any ideas?
TIA
Glyn

Added this lens to my kit, after much hesitation. I like the size of the 100-400 GM, thus the 200-600 has always seemed too big (too long). Nevertheless, I decided to give it a try, and yesterday I bought one from the local store. So far, so good. I can see more detail in the 50MP (A1) images at 600 mm, compared to the corresponding cropped to 20 MP effective 600 mm images of the 100-400 GM. This morning, I walked 2 h with the new 200-600 in the nearby park, and the experience has been positive. I think I am getting better IQ, and I am pleased how well the AF works on this lens coupled with the A1. I would say that despite the added bulk, I liked the experience of shooting with the 200-600. I did not see anything special during the walk with the camera this morning: some of the common birds, squirrels.

One of my first images with my 200-600mm G lens. What seems to be a House Finch stopped by my balcony feeder set up to model for my first 600mm images. This was taken through patio glass with morning light. (bird in the shade)
A1 200-600mm, ISO 320, F6.3 1/250 sec with Mode1 SS, handheld.

I was watching an eagle in a tree on the other side of the river when this mink popped out of the ice right in front of me. I was so surprised it took be a bit to get it in frame, but managed a few good shots as it skittered away across the frozen river. (I originally thought this was a fisher, but after further research and some comments, I found out it is a mink, which I had never seen before yesterday) Fisher by lennycarl08, on Flickr

Very nice. Mirrors my experience thus I sold off my 100-400GM and retained the 200-600. It is a great combo with with A1, very flexible since it's a zoom with excellent reach, sharp, and balances nicely on a gimbal unlike telescoping zooms. It's truly an excellent lens for the money

I spent four hours today hiking and practicing shooting with the new lens. We don't have exotic birds in the city, but even the regular ones are beautiful in their ordinary ways.
