If you get a chance, maybe head for Burlington/Lock and Dam 18. Looks like a few eagles are in the area.
I haven't been there for a few years, but the times I did go, I got some good shots from that area.

Thanks for the heads-up, Dave. I live in North Liberty, near Iowa City, about an hour north of Burlington. I'm out almost every day photographing eagles somewhere, usually on the smaller Iowa River where access is much better. I've had the pleasure of meeting some great photographers from FM shooting eagles in Iowa. If you're ever down this way, please get in touch.

This photo is from my Canon days.
My wife and I were coming back from a trip to Florida, and made the stop at Burlington.
There was a blizzard going on, but we made a quick stop at the dam to check the numbers.
The web page said around 600 eagles, and yes, they were there.
On a different trip, sometime in the late 2000's, a friend and I were allowed out onto the dam.
That was my best day photographing eagles.
I think shortly after we got out there, some laws were changed, and people couldn't get access to the dam.
