At center, it should not make a difference and perhaps field curvature is a characteristic of the lens. The only way to know for sure is to test it on a Leica or Kolari modded Sony body.
BTW, too bad about field curvature. Is it wavy?
I think Jonathan(i.e., Genji) is using the lens on a Leica M10. Perhaps he can look for field curvature and help us sort out why Phillip is seeing so much of it. With regard to center sharpness wide open. I am not surprised it isn't super sharp wide open. Neither are the 40 f/1.2 or 50 f/1.2, but the field curvature is disappointing.

Yes, it's an easy and quick test. Just center focus the subject at infinity distance and take a picture. (make sure that the corners are also at infinity).
Then, without moving the camera, place the focusing point towards the edges, re-focus and take another picture. Compare both captures at center.

With most lenses field curvature is more obvious in the midframe than the corners.
Especially true for (small) lenses with very high vignetting.

Suggestions for midframe testing approach on the M10 ?

With the simple design diagram I wouldn't expect this is a performance lens like 65 or 110. However I have no doubt this will be a great low weight fast glass for portrait.
I personally don't like VC's classic design in term of ergonomics. but if I don't have 75mm lux, I might have ordered this.

Did you check out the review? That is exactly what I did. Especially at f/1.5 midframe sharpness is significantly better when focus is changed but the center suffers. Even when refocused off-center results aren‘t great before f2.8.

I would not think FC on a 75 lens. If anything very slight. This is not good news. Next
I have a fast 50 that shows pronounced FC on my M. It's basically impossible to get the edges in focus. But it is not a lens one would use for edge sharpness to begin with so the FC is mostly a curiosity item. So, yes, I can see where a fast 75 might exhibit some FC.

Good reference. Thank you.
Wondering if lack of micro-lenses adjustment for M glass or S1(r)sensor stack thickness for the referenced 28 Summicron Asph and the 35 Summicron Asph in Jono's post.
Also, seems from above comment the CV75 doesn't play well on the Sony sensor either which I would assume 75mm wouldn't have a problem on the Sony stack. Guess I'll just have to try it on the M10 😉
I haven't used the CV, but there are evident issues shooting the APO-Summicron-M 75 on a stock Sony when compared to a Kolari UT-modded Sony or a Leica M9.

That was meant for @genji just in case he wants to test FC on his Leica body. We could find out for sure if this is due to sensor stack thickness.
I see the same as you Phillip. Mid-field is slightly out of focus when focusing at center. However, I noticed that extreme corners still look great when focusing at center. If I focus at mid-field both center and extreme corners deteriorate. (link)
(very similar behavior I see with a centered copy of the Loxia 35/2)

Thanks to everyone for the kind remarks concerning the pictures. I’ll post some more later today. I realize now that I should have been more explicit in my post that I was using a Leica M10-P (same 24mp sensor as the M10). Also that I ran Fred’s decentering test and I have a perfectly centered copy.
I’ll do the field curvature test with my Leica over the weekend. Since I also have the Summarit-M 75/2.5, I’ll test that lens too.

thanks for sharing. I hope you buy the 7artisans 75mm/1,25 as well for a comparison.
Hahah! I’ve learned never to say never regarding lens purchases but that’s highly unlikely. I suspect your request would be received far more favourably by Guy.
