I've captured quite a few lightning strikes in the past few years but I have yet to capture one on calm water to get a reflection. I lucked out last night with this one. Same photo just 2 different crops.
Fantastic shot, beautifully composed. For those who might be tempted to try this, a word of caution: Graphite (carbon fiber) tripods, which many of us use these days, can actually act as a lightning rod. Stay safe. I know this from seeing someone get hit while fishing during a storm with a graphite fly rod in Montana. He didn't die but was badly burned.
