Very nice pictures Darbo - you are making me want this lens!
Thank you! For a little while I was tempted to switch to the new Sony 35mm GM as this Sigma is larger/heavier lens. But, I just prefer the rendering of the Sigma 35mm 1.2 Art way too much.

After the release of Sony & Sigma 35mm f1.4, hopefully people don't think this lens is obsolete. I have shot many 35mm lenses, and this lens is one of the best. Haven't tried the new Sony & Sigma lens though...

Why would anyone feel that? To me it's still the best 35mm for my portrait work. That bokeh rendering is still top! reza187 wrote:

I don't think this lens will ever be obsolete—just maybe pushed a bit further into its niche of the best standard portrait prime and pretty much that alone. The GM is better corrected for distortion while being just as sharp, in possession of first party tricks like breathing compensation, has dual linear motors with first party AF implementation, and to my eye has slightly punchier color as well. All while being less than half the weight and maybe 2/5 the volume.
I'm not trying to make the Sigma sound anything less than an exemplary lens—it certainly is. Just Sony seems to have leapfrogged Sigma a bit when it comes to technical prowess. I doubt the Sigma 35 1.2 will see nearly as many customers as it would have pre-GM.

Good to see this thread brought back to life. I often pack the GM 35mm f1.4 due to weight, but when I do shoot the Sigma 35mm f1.2, I am always thrilled with the results.
