Why don't they just offer on the website a new firmware "update" that is actually the original one, so everybody affected could roll-back without any pain?

A good question.
Another good question would be why I wasn't offered this firmware reset 4 weeks ago, but only after I started taking legal action.
But to be fair, in my case it is about Sigma Germany (and possibly just one service employee and his boss, with whom I was in contact), one should always be careful not to generalize.
However, if someone is just as annoyed with this problem as I am, it is possible to have Sigma fix the problem at short notice if you only exert enough pressure.

Which cameras have the problem with the latest firmware? I had a 35/1.2 for testing here a few days ago and had no problems with the A7 III and the Eye-AF. I read that there are only problems with the A7r III and A9. Is this true? Anyway, the firmware update was obligatory, because I had terrible flickering while filming with the V1.

We have two 35/1.2 and use it on 4 Sony bodies (A9, A9ii and A7riv). The lens works fine with all bodies, we took thousands of photos at weddings with them. Rarely the aperture is occuring as -- in the exif, but images are still fine.
It could be, that people use the lens differently. We never use AFS, only AFC (never use balanced emphasis but only focus priority). We rarely shoot at MFD and then not at f1.2. The Sigma works much better on the A9ii, though, where no problems in any form occurred at all.
I don't know how and why it happens for some people, whithout knowing their settings, it is difficult to make conclusions.

In my case:
A7Riii, AF-C (always), focus priority, no usage at MFD.
Problem occurs only with f1.2. Not one sharp picture possible anymore. Endless focus hunting.
Tested two A7RIII with newest firmware, same result.

This lens has ruined all other lenses for me. Ended up shooting an entire wedding with it and it performed incredibly well in both FF and APS-C modes on the A7R4

No!! The wholesaler replaced my lens and told me not to update the firmware until they sort it. It’s been several months since Sigma acknowledged the issue. Terrible support in all honesty.

Did they manage to solve the issue with F1.2 on some sony bodys?
