p.1 #1 · What will be Opportunities in CANADA for an Indian Wedding Photographer.

Hey,

I am a Wedding Photographer Based out of India, Planning on moving to Canada (Saint John,NB.)

Am a graduate of Fine Arts with an experience of 9Years in Wedding Photography Field.

I would like to know the opportunities for an Indian Photographer in that part of the country and also how well does a Wedding Photographer get paid in Canada?

Some of my Works

Hi
Thank you for posting your images, I really enjoyed looking at them. I have never been fortunate enough to go to an Indian Wedding. I am aware they are colourful and also very long by European standards. It must be very tiring as the photographer. Some of your images are very beautiful.

I am based in the UK so cannot directly help with your questions. This forum is much quieter than it once was and also for many members this is a busy time of year so they do not log on much.

If you get few replies I suggest you:

Look up on Google "Indian wedding photographers Canada", several come up. You can see what some of them charge and what 'look' is popular. It may be worth contacting some of them directly (in other areas of Canada) to ask about their experiences. I suspect ones local to the area you are moving to will not wish to chat as you will be competition to them.

It may be worth looking up non-Indian photographers so you have a feel for shooting/price of non Indian weddings too.

If you are interested in 2nd shooting while you settle in Canada it may be worth contacting local photographers for work in advance.

Look up sites for brides in Canada to get information.

Try asking some other photo forums. They may not always have specialist wedding forums but that does not mean there are no wedding photographers using the sites.

See if any Indian expat sites exist for Canada - there may be people there who can help you.

Good luck with your new country. I hope you will be very happy.

Hey,

Thanks for the detailed reply & your insights.

I surely will contact local photographers too as you have suggested.

I really wouldn't mind being a 2nd Shooter, as far as its a well paid job. In-fact it will be learning experience on how Canadian weddings (Non Indian) Weddings are.

Can you suggest me other Photo Forums ?

TIA

I don't log on often so did not see your request until today.

Try contacting this chap for Canadian information
https://www.thephotoforum.com/members/tirediron.5212/#postings
He is a moderator on that forum but is also a pro photographer in Canada. He seems to be a very nice and helpful guy, always giving good advice to people on that forum. He may be able to give advice about Canada generally given he lives and works there.

Don't think of yourself as an Indian Photographer. Your a photographer . People will either hire you based on your work or not

If you only want to shoot Indian weddings. Best to check out the population relating to your background to see if there's enough to keep you employed.

Can also work as a second shooter as you mentioned during slow times

Checkout other local photographers for networking
