BC government is finally allowing us to socialize a bit more, so I saw some friends today that I haven't seen in some time (stil at 6ft+ distance). That 24-70 2.8S is a real gem.
So, did a little more testing today, on a bigger field I have to say this lens is almost like cheating the quality of the images coming out is amazing. Tried various modes, Wide-S seemed to work best, but subject tracking wasn't far behind. On an open field like this it's very usable. You shouldn't have expected anything less from this lens actually.
It was one of nikons flagship lenses when it came out, fantastic optics, amazingly quick focus, and it was really light-weight for what it is, 300mm, f2.8.
I think concerning optics it was even a tiny bit better than it's successor, the 300mm 2.8 VRI -and now, when we have the Z series with in-built VR this lens can show up with this fantastic feature combined -
So congrats for your great acquisition!
Here are a few garden flowers taken early this morning with Z6 and 105 VR. Processed with the new version of Capture One and Nikon standard profile as the starting point.

Testing my new flash, Ad600 Pro with chubby!! I have to get better at this. Flash photography is a different world!
Looks good, although feel free to use harder light on the dudes. Also consider dialing down the ambient exposure a stop: separation is more than b/g blur.
