When the 24 GM came out, I had had it preordered with Adorama. The shipping day came, everyone had it but them. I canceled with them and ordered elsewhere. It arrived within days.

I am really surprised with B&H. My question to the salesperson was if I order how far down the list am I? He put me on hold and came back and said I have 3 left you will get it tomorrow . What a sucker I am for believing a sales person !!

😳 Terrible news. Sorry about that. Any chance to talk to a manger? B&H is a pretty solid business but large, hot preorders must be chaotic for these busniesses. I had a similar situation with the GM 135 preorder with a different vendor, they forgot about me after I preordered and prepaid. I'll never prepay anything again.

I just called B&H to see if mine would be shipping today or tomorrow since others are saying they are getting notice of shipping today. I paid in full for mine on 6/18 and they said the earliest mine would be going out would be next week. I'm fairly peeved.

Thank god I ordered mine through Allen’s camera instead of b&h or adarama. I had a feeling those two were going to get bombarded. Allen’s camera sent mine out on Wednesday morning. Great guys

That is very interesting. I used my Amazon Prime Card but it was NOT charged immediately. Delivery is scheduled for Tuesday.

I can check the status of your order if you like. Email the order number to me. BTW a US customer paying with a US credit card is not charged until we ship. And, while I don't know where you are in our queue I do know quite a few customers have received theirs or are receiving them shortly.

As we discussed via email this was an unfortunate misunderstanding, not a lie, for which we have apologized.We are taking steps to resolve this to your satisfaction.

A couple more data points - I ordered with Adorama within 5 minutes of the pre-orders starting. My order status was just updated to show it's being prepared for shipment. I was told by Allen's Camera that I was in the top 10 of their pre-order list and have not heard from them yet.

Henry, I really appreciate your help with this. As I understand this was misinformation that the salesman received , not a lie. He has called and explained and apologized, which is greatly appreciated.
Everyone makes mistakes , that I can understand. I appreciate B&H efforts to try and resolve this matter.

I just got a call from my camera store to advise me that the Sony 200-600 that I pre-ordered was in, but I decided to pass on it. The reason is that I have the Sony A9, the 100-400 and 1.4 TC already and I also have the Nikon D850 and Nikon 500 F5.6 PF. For longer distances or BIF I would use the D850. The A9 will be used as my lightweight and travel camera as well as for wildlife that is not too far away. Now if I eventually get the A7rIV, I may re-think things.

I suspect an argumentative semantics challenge (considering the always-cantankerous source) - demanding proof that the reviewer used the exact literal word “soft” - but it seems perfectly reasonable to draw that conclusion from the tester’s verbiage:
“Adding the teleconverter to the 100-400 to take it to 560mm and f/8 definitely impacts the image quality, and it’s fairly clear from the images I’ve shot so far that the 200-600 at 600mm f/6.3 is the sharper lens by a good margin.”
For my part I have no experience @560mm with the 100-400GM with 1.4x and certainly none with the 200-600mm, so I am anticipating upcoming reports from users here demonstrating their comparative results. That will very much aid my buying decision between the two excellent zooms.
