More positive results for the 2-6...in this test it even rivals the bare 1-4 at the matching 400mm mark. The reviewer was surprised at that so rented another 1-4 and found the same. Just another data point showing IQ won't be a deciding factor between these two great lenses.

Wouldn't that show that IQ can be the deciding factor? I find the 100-400 with 1.4tc too soft for me unless the subject is very close. I refuse to use it now for long range. With the 200-600 being sharper and brighter, aside from the weight and minimum focus distance, it is a no brainer. I do find the long minimum focus distance to be pretty lame.

If they ship it out today, Thursday, then it will get here tomorrow before the weekend. I really dislike the idea of having shipment held over the weekend while in transit. Plus and that's a BIG plus, you can try the lens out in the weekend, of course !
Another weekend sacrificed for a good cause. The Gear ! Ha. I don't think I'll see mine until Monday as I didn't expedite shipping. But for those that do, I am really curious to read/see feedback on this lens from the hands of you and other FM.com wildlife notables.

Just spoke to B&H, mine is shipping today with "expedited shipping" but to CA they say that means 3 days. Even though the product page says they are now selling the lens with free overnight shipping. So my lens will spend the weekend with FedEx.

Excellent reference! Thanks for posting. These 1-4 vs 2-6 crop comparison are just what I needed/wanted to see. TC Vignetting Summary is also very, very interesting.

I'm in Orlando, my 2-6 is coming from the West Coast. You're on the West Coast and your lens is coming from the East Coast 🤷🏻♂️

Lawrence, Shirley,
Mine is slotted for overnight shipping although I didn't specify my order as such. I did give my order number to the Sony Imaging Pro and that is probably the reason for the overnight shipment. I just got off the phone with B&H to get the confirmation and indeed, it will be shipped out today and it is scheduled for delivery tomorrow.

Hmmm. I participated in the Pro Support priority request too. Need to check this out. Either way sounds like your weekend is booked !

This sounds unusual to me. Could be due to several factors. I don't seem to have this problem with the same lens/TC. Albeit atmospherics can kill just about anything zoom, prime etc. when some distance is involved.

Interesting...I just checked with B&H and learned that my order will ship today.
Since I didn't order it until two weeks after the pre-orders started, this means one of two things: the Pro Support priority thing actually made a difference, or they are getting enough inventory to fill even late orders like mine. Either way, cool.

I had preordered mine from Adorama. I called them this morning and they advised that I am 93 out of 400 that are preordered. However, they told me they do not have them in stock yet.
I just called B&H , they told me they had 3 left from the first shipment and will ship it out tomorrow. I ordered it and they have already charged my card.

B&H sent me notice mine will be delivered tomorrow. They are giving overnight delivery. They are also delivering the 600/4 tomorrow. It's going to be a busy weekend.

Seems to be Adorama’s turn to not get the first shipping. I remember with the 135 they got it first before B&H. Now those of us who ordered from Adorama wait.

Then your technique is wrong or something is wrong with your lens or TC.

Wow. That's a story. Congrats.
Well , I just called back to see if anyway they can ship today. Was now told I am not getting anything as they are on backorder.
The salesperson flat out lied to me. I cancelled my pre order with Adorama and now am not getting anything.
I am really surprised with B&H. My question to the salesperson was if I order how far down the list am I? He put me on hold and came back and said I have 3 left you will get it tomorrow . What a sucker I am for believing a sales person !!

It was also shown to be the case in the test quoted.
