p.61 #3 · Pre-order: Sony FE 200-600 f5.6-6.3 G OSS ($1,998)
Just spoke to my local dealer, service photo supply, at Baltimore, he may have some extra inventory for 200-600 and possibly 600 GM, anybody interested should call them.

It's amazing this thread hit 60 pages before the lens is even shipped! Sony should have launched this lens 2 year ago. Just received the Wimberley foot, well made as usual. The Lenscoat for $99 is a bit rich for a couple pieces of rubber.
It will be a super popular lens I'm sure and rightly so based on all the initial results compared to the more expensive 1-4GM.
27 of those 61 pages were just based on rumors and leaked prototype
I think the only recent lens I can think of that rivaled that sort of popularity on here was the 500PF....but that thread wasn't this long this fast. 200-600 is going to sell like hotcakes and seems like supply won't be horrible like the 500PF.

The other thing that will contribute to its popularity of the 200-600 lens will be the value per dollar spent. When Nikon introduced the 200-500mm f/5.6, the average person could pair that lens with an $1800 (at the time) D500 and have a legitimate wildlife shooting kit for $3200. The price to "play" basically fell by 50%, as many wildlife shooters previously bought a 300mm f/2.8 + converters to create a "budget" wildlife kit.
Sony has one-upped Nikon with their 200-600. Unlike the 200-500VR, Sony has created an affordable pro-featured super-telephoto lens with internal zoom and serious weather sealing for the amazingly low price of $2000. Combine this with an A7III and Sony has definitely changed the "buy-in" paradigm for people wanting to get into wildlife photography. As a guy who owns and shoots a Nikon 200-400mm f/4VR & 500mm f/5.6PFE, I am a bit jealous. While my gear might have an image quality edge, I need to carry two lens and two bodies to have the flexibility that Sony shooters will have with one lens and one body.

Miteshbhai, that is the plan, perfect combo for Conowingo eagles, covers far and close approach. What’s your plan?
Mitesh's plan is to continue on his plan he had for the 400GM....that is buy one...sell one....buy one....sell one....buy one....etc....I think once in awhile he may even use it in there somewhere

Call them in morning, I know they ship it.
I will likely call them this morning. B&H has been less than forthcoming which doesn't give me warm fuzzies. Not their biggest customer I know but I do and have bought a lot from them over the years.

An update from B&H, well, I actually looked up my order status on their website rather than waiting for them updating me: “In stock and sent to warehouse”. It looks like it is shipping today then!

Not sure why I am so happy my card has been charged WTH. 200-600 incoming. 🤩
If they ship it out today, Thursday, then it will get here tomorrow before the weekend. I really dislike the idea of having shipment held over the weekend while in transit. Plus and that's a BIG plus, you can try the lens out in the weekend, of course !
