Why pack up shop now? I mean, they've been wrong dozens of times (at least) in the last year or two. Hell, just a couple of weeks ago he was 90% sure we'd get that high end APS-C body any day now....the same high end APS-C he's been reporting on for the last ~2 years.
I know, you are absolutely right that SAR is just speculating out loud most of the time, and I tend to put very little value in the predictions posted there. But this is a bit different i.m.o. Literally pinning a product anouncement to an hour on a day away, with journalist launch etc. etc. and then "correcting" the announcement to after the weekend, and then if it turns out there simply isn't any announcement at all, that would be reason enough to put SAR on ignore, and i.m.o. reason enough for SAR to quit its activities. Right now, SAR has the headline "Announcement on monday". It's all very explicit.. so he'd better have something to back that up.

We seem to go through this exercise every time a new Sony lens is announced: There is a delay (like this time presumably) or nothing happens (a7000 where art thou) and Andrea gets beaten up on the net. I wonder what people expect. Has he had more misses as of late (actually the last 1-2 years)? Sure, looks like it, but that comes with the territory. It's a rumor site after all. Seems that after earlier leaks, Sony has managed to keep its announcements well guarded. Good for them, I guess.
I hope the newest set of rumors about two lenses being announced turns out to be true, because June is already here and thus far we have seen only one Sony lens release this year. They really need to speed up things a bit, given that the competition has decided to finally enter the mirrorless FF game.

I have decided to “unbookmark” SAR😂. It’s just a click bite site.

I am going to wait and see if they even announce it how it compares to the 100-400GM with a 1.4x. I do not mind losing 2/3 of a stop with the ISO performance the a7rIII and a9 have and soon to be a7rIV & a9II hopefully. The latter two make up for the 1.4 just from a cropping standpoint alone. Also curious to see how a higher MP a7000 will work on a 100-400GM also.
I think it would be great if the 200-600 G works with a 1.4x but if I am going to haul a tripod out I would just as soon use my Canon 600 F4 and extender. I guess for quick off the cuff stuff it would be nice but how do you end up with a stunning image at 840mm without the rig sitting on a something or a tripod? I do not care how good the IBIS or OSS is that is asking a lot.
I very much like the idea of a 200-600 G but when I think about the above even if it were free would I take it out and use it versus my other lenses? It would have to better the 100-400GM + 1.4x for me to consider it I believe....Show more →
I've gotten many incredible images at 800 equivalent even at 1/50 with the panasonic g9...Dual Is is amazing.

Maybe SAR should just become a pure Sony news site. Post deals, and post press releases...oh wait, that is pretty much 80% of what they do anyways Because I think the rumor mill is dried up.
p.16 #13 · Pre-order: Sony FE 200-600 f5.6-6.3 G OSS ($1,998)
80% is actually affiliate ads for random software that might edit Sony files, random accessories for any camera, and Amazon daily deals.

Maybe I need to expand my horizons I guess I too have gotten some excellent images with super slow shutter speeds but never tried it on telephotos. I have a lot of bad images from too slow of a shutter speed however a whole lot as well as images where I needed to stop down more for DOF.
Experience is everything I now tend to shoot flowers at both wide open and all the way down to F16 and have notice many on 500px and you pic stop down too. 5.6 seems to be the norm for flowers I try to be at 7.1 for BIF and some other wildlife but also like shooting stationary birds at wide open and everything in between.
