By now you all have seen many beautiful shots of this very famous, overly photographed owl that wintered in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia. I held off with my shots as there were so many threads on this celebrity....
I've included a couple portraits but my main goal when I went to see it was to try to get it in flight. I had many opportunities but very few successful images as the owl seems to give no obvious tell when it is about to fly to another perch or down to a vole.
The red backgrounds are from the blueberry bushes in the farm fields where it hunts.
You have an absolutely fabulous set here Geoff. While you have masterfully captured all of these and some are the dye for perfect flight images 11 is unique and immediately became my favorite. Some or more noise reduction on the background is something you might consider before other use.
Was wondering when you would post this subject. I know what you mean about not knowing when it will take off. I missed many a shot and my trigger finger would cramp up anticipating. For missing a lot, as you say, you did very well. By the data and these posts, the 500 PF was the lens of choice for the BIFs, no matter which body. With your skill it performed. I agree about 11, unique. Excellent images. Geoff.
