Well, if it is the most photographed, it has certainly learned how to give good looks....brilliant shooting, with 1,5,7 and the last 5 my faves.
Eric
Thanks Eric, it certainly is a good model....loves to give lots of poses and doesn't mind 50 people pointing large cylinders at it

Hi Geoff...
Spectacular series!! For me, #11 is the best of the best. What an intriguing moment you captured in that one.
Thanks
Tom
Thanks Tom, I thought it was an interesting pose....almost like a Batman cape gesture!

Beautiful images, Geoff! It must have been a treat to see this.

Thanks Keith it was a very unique opportunity especially for this area. I had opportunities with the NHO back up in the Yukon in deep snow...this was much more comfortable.
What an amazing set Geoff! That red BG is just crazy nice.
Even though the branches are in #11 I've gotta give that one my #1 pick from this set. I have never seen such a cool wing position and you nailed that shot.
I'd say impeccable timing but I'm guessing you had smoke rolling off that shutter before he even launched. That's if he was nice enough to give you a slight heads up he was about to launch?

You have an absolutely fabulous set here Geoff. While you have masterfully captured all of these and some are the dye for perfect flight images 11 is unique and immediately became my favorite. Some or more noise reduction on the background is something you might consider before other use.
Morris
Thanks Morris...I will have a look at some masking and stronger NR in the heavier cropped ones.

Was wondering when you would post this subject. I know what you mean about not knowing when it will take off. I missed many a shot and my trigger finger would cramp up anticipating. For missing a lot, as you say, you did very well. By the data and these posts, the 500 PF was the lens of choice for the BIFs, no matter which body. With your skill it performed. I agree about 11, unique. Excellent images. Geoff.
Rex
Thanks Rex....my finger was seriously cramping up also holding the PF up to my eye and waiting for the owl to fly...as you know that was sometimes a 5min wait or more!! I just couldn't react fast enough with the 500/4 on the gimbal...I love the PF handheld for this type of stuff.

Great shots - particularly considering it was tough to swing your lens without hitting another photog.
Nice to see some different images of this owl.

Thanks Henrik

Your effort for in-flight shots was handsomely rewarded. One can't tire of images of this bird.
Thanks Colin...I wonder if it is still hanging around...another road trip??

Thanks Dave. He rarely gave an obvious tell of when he would launch. I think that was either the 2nd or 3rd shot in a 9FPS burst once I noticed him launching...yes once I reacted I would burst as long as possible and pan along hoping for some keepers.
