I don't blame you, they are very similar" but "A" is Sony for example 3.
Here is a crop from "Example 3" above showing the area of focus. They are similar here but the Sony is bit sharper. They seem to share similar LoCA correction.
I'm choosing B too, but this is making my pre-order a little tougher to swallow. Think I need to wait to see how the AF compares (and eye AF) because IQ is almost a wash
Well I am on the smaller screen now but everyone is saying B is Sony so I am confused because on the first 2, the Sigma bokeh was a little smoother yet on this one I find B to be smoother so if it is Sony like the others are saying..then I am lost
I know one thing for sure I ain’t cancelling my Pre-Order. The bokeh diffrence is really nil. Warmer color is no big deal. What I do see though is more depth and sharpness on the Sony and we will see this more on your resolution test. Now my first 2 where on my phone. Last one though was my IPad. So I need my computer for this it’s really dang close.

That’s pretty dang sharp bud. Wow
On the girls I felt they where oversharpened which I know you don’t do. So people shots we are going to have to go negative on settings it seems. Fine with me bring it on

Just freaking order it already.
hahahah I was waiting for this test but I have picked the Sigma on all 3 based on the smoother bokeh even when on the first test I thought that was the Sony. The Sony does have the sharpness advantage and could be a big deal when even higher MP bodies arrive as even on the A7R3 you can still notice when cropping. BUT to me all Sigma images are showing an extra 3Dish look (which is the main reason I picked the Sigma image on the first test thinking it was the GM).
We shall see how the Eye AF test turns out as that is crucial for me.
No chance of comparison with Classic 2/135 apo sonnar (especially in respect of transition zone?)
(Sharp though the that lens was, state of the art for its day, I have no doubt it's less sharp than the Sony and likely the Sigma too, especially at infinity)
I have from previous brief comparison the idea that is was a bit smoother in the BG than Sigma, in which case it might be a bit better again than the GM. But not at all sure...

Easy to see the difference in sharpness cropped, but we all got it wrong on the sample 3 images.
I'm guessing that, for some of us, the extra few ounces on the Sigma is $tarting to feel a bit le$$ $ignificant.
$trange...
A (based on the cropped image) is Sony
Technically I didnt get Samples 3 wrong...read my post, I was confused by everyone picking B as Sony when I was seeing smoother bokeh on it
Sample 4 is harder for me to pick though.
PS the added crop showing the sharper A makes it easier to pick A as the GM now lol

Ok then the color differences are a wash and may go slightly one way or the other depending on the particular shot. So we can rule them out as a differentiating factor.
My bet is that, in the end, it will be the AF performance that will decide. Unfortunately Sigma didn’t do themselves any favor with the 35/1.4 one. It will cast a shadow forever.
