I read on one of the sites that you can calibrate this lens for your Leica focusing system. I’m wondering if this ability is somewhat the same as the Sony mount.
Every lenscomes with a set of instructions to tune the RF coupling. This has been the case since their 50/1.1.

Luckily my gf speaks chinese.
Sales said there is a mark on the bayonet to differentiate between M and FE version,
so there should be some optical adjustment for the thick Sony filter stack.
So I am getting this FEplus version.
Hi Bastian,
Where did you order it from?
It looks like 7artisans keeps updating this lens. (ring flare, FE optimized, etc.)
My only reservation right now is the 26-point sunstar. I have not seen any sample of how this looks yet.
Also, It does not seem have high in contrast wide open...Probably a consequence of uncorrected SA which has pros and cons.
If I understand from BastianK’s posts, the “FEplus” is a new version. One or more optical elements are changed from the Leica M version (though both are offered in Leica M mount!). I wondr why they did not offer this in Sony E mount?
To add to this, 7A do offer their 50/1.1 in Leica SL mount as well.
I have their E to M adapter. Quite well made and I like it a lot.

Wondering if you can tune it for Sony sensor. I think I saw they sell a Leica M to E adapter. I’m wondering what that is about.
I can’t read Chinese so have no way to figure this out
I’m just wondering if this is some marketing spin. Makes zero sense

This is a standard order form for China (similar to those on Alibaba or Taobao). Once you tap on your selection it will have a red ring around it. Two taps required here 1. M or FE and 2. The package you want.
If you are after sun stars, you can avoid this lens.
. In that respect, it is very similar to the Sony FE 28/2.
Contrast wide open is close to that of the ZM 35/1.4 Nothing unusual.

Why I’m questioning this if they make it for a Sony why not a E-Mount. It’s still a M mount
Hi Guy,
It is probably less expensive for them not to have make a new lens housing. All they have to do is to adjust the optical design and still use the Leica M to E mount adapter.

My gf who lives in HK ordered for me on TaoBao (chinese ebay/amazon).
There are many stores that have it listed and all for the same price, so I cannot even tell you which one it was in the end.
Sunstars look really really bad. Not only the number of blades is important but also the exact spacing.
Sony has figured that out since the GM lenses. Leica and Cosina (Zeiss/Voigtlander) can do it too.
Everyone else: only very rarely.
The optical design is similar to Loxia 21mm 2.8 or Voigtlander VM 35mm 1.7 though, just one aspheric as rear element, which is usually good news for bokeh (slight or no onion rings).
It is also a rather complex design with two (if I remember correctly) ED elements and one aspherical one, so I don't think it will be really low contrast (veiling flare may spoil the party though).
I hope it will pair nicely with the Mitakon 50mm 0.95, we will see about that.
I was tempted by the M-non-flare-version already, but I decided I am done with that ugly field curvature bokeh in the corners for good.
When I returned my copy to them for decentering (Amazon) they asked for the images to show them the problem. Once they got them they said this; " ear customers, thank you very much for your support. We have already understood your problem. This lens will have a certain probability of encountering problems when using the adapter ring. We can recalibrate the lens to optimize this problem."
I was a bit confused as they suggested the decentering was being caused by an adapter, when I had tested 3 adapters (all working well with other lenses). In addition when I sent the lens back they then said they did not want the adapter and then that they would send me a refund (which they did very promptly). So I'm very happy with their support and find it interesting there's now a Sony "M" version. Depending on tests I may dip my toe again ....
A couple of sample shots at close to infinity both focused in the center between 28mm 7A 1.4 and Rokinon 35mm 1.4 (older MF version). My sample had a poor lower right corner, but the power station chimney on the left did not resolve well. So far as I recall these were both taken at F2 and with lenses mounted on 2 camera bodies taken quite close together as I did not have to switch lenses. You can see the chimney is slightly taller on the 35mm shot. I did not move position.
35mm Rokinon. Both side of ship and power stn well resolved. Sorry for poor exposure compared to 7A image.
28mm 7A. Power stn clearly not resolved well, although ship at center of image is very clear and sharp
