.......I highly prefer the X-T3 for photo use, and kind of hate it for video because there is no good way to have a video mode custom setting that you can also adjust on the fly quickly. When I'm snapping shots of the family and want to quickly go to my preferred video settings, it's cumbersome.......

I'm not sure if you are familiar with "Movie Silent Control" in X-T3. When you enable it, you control all aspects of video using the touchscreen. Meaning, you could leave your manual dials where you want for pictures and use touchscreen for video settings. This way, you can switch back and forth between photo mode and video mode with settings preserved.

I am, the problem is fine tuning once in silent mode for proper exposure is only through the touchscreen and is fairly slow as you have to be very careful with the small touchscreen items.

Rather defeats the purpose of being a shortcut for speed and convenience; probably not the intended use anyway.

In any case quick switching is a half baked attempt at best on the x-t3.

I understand what you are saying but it's not like the lighting changes on you so frequently that you are having to constantly change settings.

In using a fixed shutter speed to avoid choppiness, I’m always adjusting the aperture and iso, along with using a magnetic ND if needed. Also switching from indoor/outdoor is very common and really needs its own custom save for each. As well as wanting to have another setup for slow motion.

It would be much easier if there was a more abstracted interface so I could still fine tune in an actual video mode using the hardware dials.

The X-T3 is just not a serious video and stills hybrid. It works okay in photo or video but not both quickly.

I agree that switching between video and stills on the XT3 is not an efficient implementation. Worse, the UI is not Hybrid-oriented. The Nikon Z6 has a conveniently located lever to easily switch between video and stills. Sony allows a stills-bypass by providing a movie record button—this is my favorite. In one press, I'm capturing motion—this provides the best transparency.

Thanks, this is an excellent and well thought out reply. If I do get a Fuji, I will definitely shoot in parrallel for a while before dumping my Canon gear.

I did that, kept adding the odd lens as well and before I knew it I've got two full setups for both Canon and Fuji... So what did I do? Thought I'd also give Sony a look see as well... I still can't make my mind up which setup to keep, I'd be happy with any but just can't make my mind up which to sell and keep putting it off
