p.1 #1 · Lightroom Classic CC 8.2 accidental release?

OK this is weird

Earlier today Adobe CC told me that a new version of Lightroom Classic was available, so I updated.
It's 8.2 - the main new feature appears to be something called "enhanced detail" which is a new deomsaiscing which creates a .dng alternative to your raw file. (It depends on some engine in Mojave so I can't use it!)

But now Lightroom Classic is telling me to 'upgrade' my LR classic to 8.1 - and the only website which mentioned it and which I read earlier today ( https://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/photoshop-2019-20-0-3-and-lightroom-classic-cc-8-2-are-released) is now saying "page not found"

So it seems as though it may have been released by mistake, and Adobe have perhaps asked all sites that mention it to pull their pages.

BUT -- what should I do? I worry that pressing the "upgrade" button to 8.1 might do something bad, because the upgrade process is not designed for downgrades.....

I definitely wouldn’t “upgrade” to a previous version of an Adobe CC product. If LR 8.2 is working satisfactorily I’d choose to ignore the 8.1 downgrade advice and wait for either 8.1.1 or 8.3.

Does Lightroom Classic 8.2 fix the issue where GPS tagging has been completely broken since 8.0?

+1 on this, however I'd hazard a guess that it might have been pulled for another tweak, so I would check the build number you have vs 8.2 when it's released proper. On Windows you can see the build number in the Help > About Adobe LR window. For example my 8.1 version is 1200465. If the version you have is a different build number (you'll have to ask someone) I would downgrade to 8.1 then upgrade. Adobe made a downgrade option available a while ago after breaking LR a couple of times with new versions.

I found a Kindle book online that says it has how-to's including latest to LR 8.2, so I'd guess it will be out v. soon

It sounds like Adobe is finally tapping out of trying to demosaic Fuji files adequately, at least they are listening in a roundabout way.

In my case, after this upgrade, Creative Cloud asks me to REINSTALL Photoshop and Lightroom Classic. Come on, Adobe, since the subscription model, your upgrading process is very buggy and this is more than annoying!
