This lens doesn't get much love in this forum. Might be overshadowed by the 85mm which I have yet to use because of covid...

I am eyeing the 58mm 1.4g tho..It is unreasonable when I already have the best bang of the buck 50m....

What a fitting testimony to the image quality of the 50 f1.8S! (also the silent-shooting capabilities of a Z7) deployed by Sergey Gorshkov to depict this endangered Siberian Tiger scent marking a Mandurian pine. This is the overall winning photograph in WPTY 2020

xpost from the z images thread, first two wide open and the last one with an 18mm extension tube (and aperture probably a bit too small leading to diffraction, but you get a feeling of magnification options using extension tubes)

Question for the 50 1.8S owners. How audible is the focusing motor? The 24-70 2.8S is practically dead silent. I'm finding the 50 1.8 to be about as loud as adapted F mount lenses. Is this normal?

Some pictures taken this fall. I love this lens. First one is f11, the other two f1.8. I'll need to improve my sharpening workflow for the web.

In an effort to make my Z and 50mm combo a bit smaller to handle, I've been trying out a metal square hood. It does a bit less with regard to blocking direct light coming in the front of the lens, but the tradeoff is saving an inch off the front and having a somewhat handsome shape/look.
