Tom, I'm also interested. I'm assuming that the shoot dates are for 2005-2006? You didn't put the year on the thread, and I haven't been following closely. I'm on the west coast (San Jose, Calif.) so I'll have to plan this carefully. Would a 100mm f/2.8 prime be about right for a lense with a 20D
(1.6 FOV) and a 35-70 for FF?
Regards
When you get some dates together for 2006, perhaps another post may be in order. I'd love to go to one of these and may have 2 opportunities to next year depending on your available dates. I can adjust my schedule somewhat, so that should help but I'd like to be able to commit as soon as possible to keep from missing out on this.
We are working on the schedule for the remainder of 2005 - probably 2 dates in December and then we'll pick back up in January. Here's a couple of shots from this morning.
I attended the tiger shoot just a few weeks ago. I was a truly amazing experience. When we went there wasn't even a hint of green and it was cold, but it didn't have any effect on the tigers, me, or my pictures.
I packed only an 85mm f/1.8 and it served me well. These animals are very close to you, and only a fence stands between you and them. I think that a 70-200 would be the perfect lens for the setting.
Attention the feb 18th tiger shoot may have to be called off due to rain , if you are going and are local to the dallas check back here for info the mornign of the shoot , I will post info by 5:00 am sat morning , if you are coming from out of town I would change shoot dates .
Just to update everyone on the weather situation for the February 18 Tiger Shoot - the weather is progressively looking worse with forecasts now for freezing rain and a high on Saturday of 36F. We will continue to monitor the weather and will make a determination by tomorrow (Friday) whether we will postpone/reschedule the shoot. We've generally shot in any kind of weather but this situation is starting to look hazardous for driving and we don't want anyone to take undo risks.
Anyone scheduled from out-of-town needs to be sure to contact Tom Hicks or me before you depart for the shoot to get the latest determination. PM either of us for contact numbers. We don't want you to take an unnecessary trip if we postpone the shoot!
We have officially called the February 18th Tiger Shoot on account of the potential for hazardous weather. Naturally this will cause the weather to not be bad but we don't want to risk the driving. Anyone signed up for this shoot is encouraged to sign up for one of our future shoots.
How can I sign up for the April 29th shoot? I will be in Dallas for a meeting until Sunday April 30th; and will be able to make it on Sat morning.
