Greetings of the day folks, would be Z 6 owner here. Just went through a lot of images here and they are all incredible. I can't figure out why some reviews are quite negative though with phrases like "half baked" being used and some complaining about battery life while Ming Thein said these cameras have fabulous battery life (he talked about Z7 though). Only the weaker than DSLR AF seems to be a common point but not too bad.
Anyway, does someone here use 24-120 f/4 with FTZ on their Z 6 and can comment on how it performs? I would like 24-70 S but the extra reach on the former is very tempting....Show more →
I have the 24-120, it's not bad, not great, focus is a bit slower than with the 24-70 2.8g. it's a lens I grab over the 24-70g when I need versatility not speed or sharpness.
The best OEM zoom of this flavor is said to be the Sony FE 24-105/4, and I have to stay away from the Buy button. The Nikkor 24-70/4S is a pretty attractive alternative (once I get a Z).
How long I've waited for Nikon to make a 24-70mm F4 lens, I had a 24-70mm f2.8, two 24-120 VR f4's a Sigma 24-105 F4, was briefly tempted by the Canon 24-70mm f4....

holy crap, i thought it was the flashpoint godox flashes being buggy and not firing at times. but apparently it was a camera issue.
I shoot Profoto Air TTL, so when you go past the sync of 1/200th in the Z7 (if set to auto FP), I can get 1/4000th and higher. Are the Z6's finicky with wireless strobes?

They were at 19 in stock when I ordered this morning and they're down to 14 now. Just FYI, as my sporadic checking over the past few weeks turned up constant out of stock messages.

That's good to know! yeah lens prices are getting out of hands. I like the new 50 but not sure if it is 3 times better than 50 1.8G. Guess I will find out eventually. 24-70 f/4 S seems like a winner in IQ though and priced sensibly.
I own all 3 of the Z mount lenses. The 24-70 f/4 is quite good and for me buying that (especially as the kit) was a no brainer as there are times when I just need a standard zoom. The 50 1.8 S is good, but I sort of feel like decent 50mm's are a dime a dozen and although the new 50 is good I'm not using mine nearly as much as the new 35 1.8 S. The new 35mm I really like but that may also because I'm really more of a 35mm guy at heart. If I had to pick two I'd get the 24-70 and the 35 1.8 S.
I'm also personally happy with Nikon's decision to offer the new 35 and the new 50 as f/1.8 lenses (rather than f/1.4) - for me f/1.8 is plenty fast enough on FF and although both lenses are fairly large they are also quite lightweight. I suspect I'll pick up the 24 f/1.8 when that comes out as well.
Here's one of your's truly (with the stick-eating monster) taken with the new 35 wide open....

Great picture! I think I will start with 24-70 first and slowly move onto Z primes. I have an assortment of F mount primes that I will keep using for now, especially the 50 of which I have multiple different versions. Between 35 and 50 which one do you think is a sharper lens?

Just picked up the 70-200 f/4 on the Buy/Sell here and I'm impressed with the performance on the Z6 with the FTZ. These are both at f/4....
Very nice photo and great looking dog. I just traded in my Tamron 70-200 for a Nikon 70-200 F2.8E. Looking foward to trying it on my Z6 and D850. The Nikon seems a bit lighter than the Tamron.
