p.4 #1 · Just bought a 5d MK IV from deals-all-year on ebay

I live a couple miles from then. I know them well in fact they take very good care of me. The 2 owners are nice guys but steve is a very pushy saleman. When i need something i just text them and one of them always responds. I tell him what i want and he gives me a great price. Quick and easy.

They stock some gear in the north jersey store but most is drop shipped from south jersey.

Deals is a couple miles north of me and unique photo is a couple miles south of me and people wonder why i have so much gear lol..

FWIW, I bought a 5DIV from them a couple of years ago from eBay. I bought it knowing it was a grey market body. They did try to have me upgrade to a package which included their warranty and an extra battery (additional charge for an OEM battery). This summer I had to send it in to get repaired as it was freezing up in hot humid weather. CPS fixed it no questions asked (ok course without warranty).

Yes, that is with tax. It was $2,215 before tax. I’m sorry though, I don’t really understand. Why would I expect to pay less for a brand new model than a refurbished or used model? Seems obvious to me that refurbs and used models would be less money than a brand new one.

Anyways, is it the best deal ever? No. But I didn’t want to deal with a runaround during the purchase process. I wanted a US version from a US authorized dealer; regardless of what is said about Canon honoring warranties for grey market models. I personally feel that the process with an authorized dealer both before and after sale tends to be stress free, and it was.

I paid $2,400 total and had a brand new 5D + US warranty card 2 days later. The purchasing process was fast, easy and responsive. Pretty happy with that.

But no criticism to you, it seems like even though you had to work a little harder it worked out and you saved even $500 more than me.

For what it's worth, there is literally no physical difference between the North American model and the international model, other than (possibly) the battery charger. They're made in the same factories on the same assembly lines from the same parts. But the ones sold through Canon USA or Canon Canada have legit North America warranty cards.

Yeah, totally aware of that. I was just not comfortable going to extra mile to get the deal. I wanted a US model from an authorized dealer; regardless of what is stated about coverage. Still paid like $600 less after tax than B&H or elsewhere. Fine by me.

p.4 #7 · Just bought a 5d MK IV from deals-all-year on ebay

I just followed this drama today, and thought I would throw my 2 cents in.

A few years ago, I made a similar purchase off eBay from a well-known NYC seller. Got the calls about upgrading, or it would have a foreign charger and Chinese menus and manual. Stuck to my guns, and received a brand new US warranty model. All good

Purchased an EOS M for my daughter. No upsell, camera arrived and all was good. Tried to register for Canon's photo sharing site at the time, and denied due to non-US serial number. Hmmph. No biggie.

As far as CPS, I have registered more than two dozen new and used lenses, and at least a half dozen bodies, with zero issues.

I'd buy new or used, US or grey market, without fear. Canon products are generally reliable, and their service is great. I've used a non-Canon repair for out of warranty service.

One other note WRT non-US cameras is that Canon has no idea what country you were in when you bought your camera. Alienating customers is always bad form.
Far better to service the few non market cameras that show up.

Not sure what you're referring to. My camera was brand new, not refurbished.

I see that it’s $1899 now. I wonder how much profit they’re making at that price? I know they get either a reduced fee or even a kick back from eBay.

It’s a good time to buy a 5DIV, it’s a great camera and there are deals to be found. I bought two about six weeks ago, one with 1800 actuations for $2289 and a brand new one for $2350. I registered both on CPS without a problem and both have been thoroughly tested with zero issues. After looking at their feedback, I wouldn’t hesitate buying from Deals but would look at Black Friday offers on Canon’s website and make a decision based on their price.

Unless, I am missing something, it looks like Canon's Black Friday offer on a refurbised 5D Mark IV still is $2,699.20. Looks like OP got a pretty good deal apart from the hassle.

Huh? The quoted text are your words! Haha

I said: “I paid $2400 total for a brand new one”

You said: “did that include tax? I don't see that deal is being such a great one considering that canon was selling refurbs for less than that last year and used ones are still going for less.”

I never said a word about yours not being brand new lol. You said my deal wasn’t great because you saw used ones and refurbs going for less than I paid. All I said is just because refurbs and used ones are less than I paid doesn’t mean it’s not a good deal. Why should I expect to EVER pay less for a new one than a refurb or brand new. That’s it. Never said a word about yours not being new lol.

You paid $2400 for a refurb last Black Friday. I paid $2215 for a brand new one. I don’t understand why you keep comparing refurb/used prices to new models.

Yes, you obviously got a much better deal than that for a brand new one. But to say my deal wasn’t good because you could buy one used for less makes no sense. For a deal to be good you have to be able to buy a brand new one of something for cheaper than it is used? lol

Fact is i paid like $630 less than if I went to BH.
You paid $1,100 less than if you went to BH.

Both deals are good. Yours was better. That’s it.

Is the $400-500 you saved more than me worth the USA model from a Canon authorized dealer that I got? Probably not.

You’re not missing anything. I believe OP may have mistyped which caused a back and forth. He absolutely got a phenomnal deal.

Refurbs are 2,700...they were 2,400 at one point though
I paid 2,215 for a brand new model + tax
OP paid 1,900 or so for a brand new model...no tax

I bought my 5D IV from them in December 2017, for $2400. I got the call and was offered free next day shipping, 3 year warranty and an extra battery if I upgraded to the US version for an extra $269. I said yes and received a paypal invoice for $269 in a matter of minutes.

The camera arrived in the original box and I was able to register it with Canon's website. Also registered for the 3 year warranty through their 3rd party Mack Worldwide Warranty. Not a bad deal if you ask me.

I bought from Deals-All-Year and the experience was good, I bought a 5Ds for $2099.00 and received the camera in 3 days with none of the BS the OP has gone through regarding upgrading. The camera box was opened and resealed as it was part of a kit and they sold the lens separately but that was stated on the website so it was fine.

If someone wants to stay away from gray market and buy a USA version, you can get a BNIB USA version for $2275 in the B&S after you sell a 24-105II for $600

$2275 is a good price to be sure, but at $1929 the thread starter shaved almost $350 off that $2275 deal. That is a remarkable deal.
