Samples are bad, but I am ecstatic for this lens. 2nd lens I have pre-ordered in about 5 years. This FL, f1.5 and Sonnar design at 200g! I expect some personality wide open and things to clean up like the zm 50 1.5 and other legacy glass. I loved my Contarex 85 f2. I was hoping CV or someone would release a small (Leica 75 APO or 77 ltd size) lightweight 75-85mm portrait options at f2 or faster for sometime now. Woot woot!
From the sample images it looks like a nice lens, soft bokeh behind subject. Sharpness (wo) outside the central zone matters for a portrait lens, because shooting in vertical/portrait orientation, so hope it's 5 elements can coerce enough rays to focus in the same place.

Funny, I can't gleam much from the samples, but then again, I rarely find the sample images released with lenses that good.
The samples are too low rez, but it looks like it's pretty glowy wide open with a noticeable bump in contrast at f/2. I wonder how significant focus shift will be?
Bellamy likes to crank the contrast on his film scans. It's certainly a look, but maybe not the best one to promote the lenses themselves. It should be interesting.
In 1954 it cost more than a Chevy. I was hoping to get those swirls of the famous CZJ Biotar, however it is a far superior technically lens to the biotar, so swirls are quite mild. Over 650 grams. Good WO it's great by F/2 and as sharp as anything I've seen at 5.6. I bought a 75 Lux to replace it or daily use. The canon is a sweeter lens, compared to the 75 lux, which is bitingly sharp by F/2. I still shoot it fairly often.
To me, this new 75/1.5 looks great for M9, which must have speedy glass, for work indoors. I would expect it to be much better sharper at f/1.5 than the Sonnetar is at 1.1. Price is very reasonable for a brand new lens. I should sell some glass I don't use much.
