Recently got the Sony A7iii and it works with most of my canon mount lenses with the sigma mc11 adapter. However with the Tamron 70-20 f2.8 vc (g1 version), it wont even try to auto focus. I am wondering if there are some settings I have to change to make it work? The camera is running on firmware 1.01. I m new to the sony a7 series (am a canon user for 10 years) so my apologies if this is a dumb question.
Hmm that’s odd, I used that same lens on my a7riii the other day with the mc-11 and it worked great. Try upgrading to the newest firmware (v2.0) on your camera.
After using the A7iii, with mc-11 and tamron 70-200 f2.8 vc (g1), using the latest camera and adapter firmwares, I notice the AF locks up from time to time. It usually happens right after the lens was unsuccessful in locking focus (due to contrast, subject too close etc..). The solutions I found are: power off/on camera, or switch to MF then AF on the lens. It doesn't happen every single time, but its happening often enough for me to post this message. Does anyone else had this problem? Another issue I notice is that AF is slower/hunts more in vertical orientation, as compare to horizontal.

@ 200mm it tends to have issue with my R3. Seems ok with the A9, more behaved.
