Anyone have any idea what the wait time is if ordered from B&H? Is a Christmas delivery possible if ordered now?
FYI:
I had an order in at Adorama, and was tired of waiting, so started sleuthing elsewhere.
I ended up lucking out and getting a copy from MikesCamera, in Colorado. The online order rep's name is Brian, and he was super helpful and nice.
He ended up getting a bit behind in following up on orders and was going to call me to say they didn’t have stock, when a grand total of one came in. Had it the next day.
I found Mike's from the Sony 24 GM web page , FYI.

You just have to watch for stretching towards the edges (when positioning feet or heads for example) and also maintain the camera as level as possible to avoid body distortion. Don't get too close either. A 28mm would be easier to use for sure but I think you will like shooting at 24mm. Perfect for travel lens imo.
Man, I didn't think I needed or even wanted this 24/1.4 but your shots in Italy may have sold me on it.
Always worried about 24 being too wide for portraits with distortion but seems like that is easy to avoid even with group shots (your halloween ones).
The environmental portraits posted here are great.
This really seems like a two-lens-in-one deal with crop mode giving me the equivalent of a 38mm and enough resolution for my use of those kid portraits (I put together a Blurb book for the grandparents each year).
I had been looking to replace my Canon 35/2 IS and eyeing the Batis 40 but really think I'm going to follow Guy's lead in using the 24 in crop mode to achieve essentially the same look and feel (and far better background blur/separation) with native AF (including reliable EyeAF).

Thank you! and yes, just watch your edges when shooting people and don't get too close. If you want to get a bit closer to your subject, switch to crop mode to get more distance and therefore less distortion.
Crop mode works very nicely just remember it’s now 18mpx and in many cases that may not matter. I use it sometimes with my 85.
.
So 24/36 than 50/75 than a 85/ 127. My 135 will go to 202mm
In essence your 4 lenses can be 8 as long as 18mpx. Every PR gig I do 18 is plenty and for wedding shooters they could get away with 18mpx. I try to remember a very simple formula if I want a 9x12 300 dpi print than 18 works above that stay Full Frame
You also lose a little light too but in most cases not a big deal. These are fast lenses already

The crop images would only every be printed at less than 8x10 size in Blurb books that I put together for the grandparents each year so 18MP is more than enough.
I actually just did our holiday cards and when I went to Export in PS I thought I did something wrong because the default size for the image was something like 18x26". The a7rIII resolution is no joke.
Right now until they fix the Batis 40 this is a good backup plan. I got my 50 1.4 back and I bailed on the Batis 40 but I know many folks want that 40.

Whenever Sony releases a 60MP body, the crop mode resolution will be ~27MP. Not too shabby.
Agreed It is going to change the way people space out their lenses. Right now I'm happy with 18mp in crop but 27mp will kill the need for me to have a crop body all together.
Night shots @ f4.0 and wide open. Had intended to spend the rest of the evening photographing Mr. Thom Yorke but got stopped at the entrance for having a proper camera and ticket but no press pass. Shucks.
I'm a 300mm++ shooter, but after 3 weeks of using this lens out west I'm really liking it. So much that I'll be marketing a Loxia 21mm as soon as I find time to get the pics of it into the Buy/Sell thread.
