Makes sense buying this if I've voigt 15, Tamron 28-75 and Voigtlander 40 1.4 or better going with tamron 17-28? The images from this 21 are amazing...

The biggest plus of this lens is the sunstars + compactness. If this is not the priority of Tamron 17-28 to the existing 28-75

Tough choice! Like always, it depends on your personal priorities. From what I have seen, the 17-28 looks like a really good lens. Plus it’s a f2.8. It would be more flexible for landscapes too since it’s a zoom. However, the CV 21/3.5 is TINY. 230 grams. And it’s extremely sharp in the center wide open with very good sharpness across the plane. As said above, the sun stars are good too. I would choose the Voigtlander. The little lens is such a pleasure to shoot with and is built to a very high quality. It’s a gem. It’s easier for me shooting with a prime since I don’t have to constantly worry about where I should zoom. I have one focal length and make it work.

This 1930's building is the former Gaumont/Odeon cinema and sits at the eastern end of Union Street in Plymouth. It hasn't been a cinema for a number of decades (usually a nightclub of some sort) and recently escaped becoming the headquarters of God TV. There's no certainty as to its future as is the case with many grand old buildings in this part of Plymouth.
Boy, I would really like to see Odeon #2 full size for corner resolution.

A shot from much earlier in the year. I don't tend to use this lens often. Not because I don't like it, I love it, but I think it's just that I don't "see" things this wide!!

Thanks. Not a big deal, but I am always looking for an inexpensive 21mm to replace my Zeiss 21/2.8 ZF.
I enjoyed your photo of the Odeon. For me, that Art Deco period was the golden age of modern architecture. It is amazing that the era that brought us wonderful design, music, cinema, and architecture also produced Hitler and Stalin.

Lee - try the Voigtlander 10mm. Once you use that lens, this 21mm seems like a super telephoto! LITERALLY. 🙂 In the image below, the red box is the 10mm field of view and the green is the 21mm. I got this from this excellent website: https://vahonen.info/fov/

Here's the full size image - agree re art deco - a lot of it has been lost here in Plymouth due both to war and post war development

Thanks for the image. The image holds together very well in the extreme corner, especially for a small, moderately priced lens. This might be a good alternative to the Voigt 21/1.4 I've been lusting for.

Nope. Sorry. I've got zero interest in anything that wide for when I'd actually even get to use it...!

Trying to forget about that 1.4
I've not really been looking into this lens too much!!
A lot of the examples that I have actually seen though have been taken at small apertures which to me defeats the whole point of it a little bit...
Yes, I would like faster than f/3.5 if I'm being honest but for the size & weight I'm more than happy for how I use it. I guess I could swap this lens & the Astro use Samyang 24/1.4 for the CV24/1.4 & have two lenses in one but it's very rare that I'd be out shooting & carrying both the lenses anyway so.....
