Had the pleasure to use the 400 GM at a Sony event together with my A1 recently. Didn't exactly make the choice between the 400 and 600 easier, to say the least. Seeing you catching hummingbirds in flight also answers any questions I had about the speed of the lens; all I managed to find in my alotted time were some swans eating clover.

Thank you Yanikku, much appreciated.
Ideally one would like to own both.
THe 400 GM and 100-400 GM for close by birds, Hummingbirds and, song birds.
The 600 GM and 200-600 G for more distant perched and Birds in Flight.

I have shared these in the A1 thread but thought I'd add them here also. I have now had two opportunities to shoot this lens borrowed from a friend.
I'm now trying to figure out how to afford one of my own
