Thanks. I'd have to do a side-by-side with the Lux ASPH to see if there is any real difference. On its own, in this image, the Voigtlander would certainly be good enough for me and landscape type applications. Didn't notice any obvious sharpness falloff at the edges and the areas of the scene within depth of field look good.
I'm going to give it a try. ( I think I may be able to use the Voigtlander hood for my Voigt 35 F1.2 II on the new 50 1.2?) I too want to see how it holds up to the Lux ASPH (one of my all time favorite lenses). I want to compare on both M10 and A7rIII. Hard to ignore a very affordable 1.2 for the M mount !

I've never seen a TAP that does not wobble after a while (even with light lenses). I think that eventually they will all wobble by design! (The top of the adapter does not have any support)
Try attaching a lens on it and tilt the lens up and down while looking at the TAP's mount. (when it's extended). It should tilt up and down. If not, you have a golden copy!
The problem with this tilt (wobble) with very fast lenses + shooting wide open is that the plane of focus changes considerably. I wish they would fix the design and release TAP II.

I did check the last time you advised and explained the wobble in the big TAP thread, but I couldn't find any signs. I think maybe that was about a year ago? I will check again.
Also, not sure about your experience, butI have reached out to the company multiple times via email and FB, seems they have just stopped responding altogether. Not sure what has happened.I hope it not bad news. I use both their TAP and Contax G adapters and like I wrote, when they work they are great but for me thats only about 30-50% of the time in the conditions I shoot in.

I have not heard from my TechArt contact in a while. Last time we spoke (many months ago) he said there are plans of a TAP 2 but I never got any more info about a possible release.

Let's hope they are hunkered down and working on the TAP 2.
I read something curious on SAR some weeks ago "Tamron wanted Techart to produce something similar to MC-11 and it would have been branded as a Tamron product. For some reasons that I don’t know, Tamron just gave up the partnership and the whole adapter idea. However, Techart is still going to introduce it to the market later this year, with their own brand. I’m not sure how much technical support they got from Tamron." https://www.sonyalpharumors.com/curious-rumor-tamron-tried-to-make-an-e-mount-adapter-with-techart-but-partnership-went-south/#disqus_thread

Uffft. TAP Wobble confirmed using A9 + TAP + Lux 50

The wobble is bad news for landscapes but also when shooting wide open with a fast lens like the 50/1.2. A small amount of wobble tilt will shift the plane of focus. Look what it did to this image:

You wife’s hands are in the same plane of focus as her face they should be much sharper

Her dress as well... That's due to adapter tilt (from the wobble). That's the main reasons I can't rely on this adapter.
I think it's even more pronounced in the photo of one of your daughters a page or few back. I thought it was from possibly shooting down slightly, as Derek suggests...

I'm pretty sure it's due to the adapter mount tilt. (It's like shooting with a TS-E lens)
I don't get that effect when using an adapter with perfect parallelism.

First walk around with the new lens. Here's an album with some quick snaps, lightly edited to taste. No lens profile was used and no vignetting correcting was applied. All shot at f/1.2: https://www.flickr.com/photos/nampramos/albums/72157699920189881
I like what I'm seeing so far. It reminds me of the VM40/1.2 I had for a while but a better performer on the A7R3.

Hmmm. I don't think I've noticed this effect in my library for photos created using the TAP adapter. Will try to see if I can duplicate under normal conditions.
FWIW, and given some of the current operational inconsistencies with the TAP, I much prefer to adapt these fast M mounts to my Sony with a manual adapter ( I happen to use a Shoten M to Emount adapter) and with the big Sony Vertical Grip attached to the camera. I found the Sony Vertical Grip, while adding bulk to the kit, for my hand seems to be the most comfortable and stable approach for manual focusing these little lenses. My fingers rest right on the focus tabs or ring when holding this kit and Sony's focus peaking makes it super easy to nail 1,2 IMO.
I get one in a few days maybe test it against Big Bronco since it is a flat wall and use the VM adapter as a comparison and see if it tilts. Not sure what I’m keeping so I have some options.
Good idea Guy. I'll be looking for it. You know I like the Big Bronco gauntlet! I'll have the 50 1,2 tomorrow and will test it against the Lux 50 1,4 this weekend on both the M10 and A7r3. Curious to see these results as I really like the Lux 50 but its only a humble 1,4 .
The TAP as I commented before can be very thrilling when it works as intended. I really do hope they continue the product and are able to close in on some of the noted idiosyncrasies.

I predict the 50/1.2 will be better than the lux on the Sony, tho I suspect the opposite result on the Leica. Will be interested in reading what you observe.
