For what it's worth, while out shooting this morning, we, my mother and I, made a few sales for the 500pf. So much fondling and questions.
One thing to note, it does not balance well on a wimberley as the foot may not be long enough in the rear.
Does this mean that you sold your lens(es) or that you made images that you sold as a result of the lens?
As for the gimbal... I have the Hangar foot and use a D500 without a grip. My lens balances perfectly on the Induro Full Gimbal GHB2... shout out to Steve Perry who created a great video on how to properly balance a Gimbal Head ---> link here:

I think he means that people started drooling over his and his mom's lenses and then promptly got onto their smart phones and placed their own orders. Of course they will probably receive the lens in 2020....

It was more of people who were debating on getting the lens, every person that we talked to knew there would be a wait for it. As with a lot of discussion about getting the 200-500 or the 500pf, for a wife, fondling the 500pf made the decision easier, as she nudged her husband to make the call to their store to put in an order.
As for the balance on a gimbal, I should have been more specific, D5 or D850 gripped it was back heavy, I'll experiment a bit more this weekend once I decompress from the drive home.
@arbitrage You're correct A fellow BC'er was standing next to me and got a photo of the 850+70-200fl and d5+500pf for comparison. I figured there would be a few of those photos around *shrugs*

just got mine, will be here on Tuesday, using it with d5, do i need to MFA a 5.6 lens?
I did not MFA mine on a D500... seems to be sharp and accurate at f/5.6 on my body. I will likely check that it is spot on, but I need to wait of a bright sunny day or get into a studio with about 30-40 meters of continuous space.
I did repeated auto fine tune on two cameras with my 500 PF, the first resulted in an average of zero, and with the other camera I got +3. Whether this is necessary is debatable but it can't hurt to try and see what you get. I would choose a target at intemediate distance or typical distance where you would be likely to shoot, and then repeat the auto fine tune several times (5-10) and see what is the average value. Remember to shoot in bright enough light so that the process is reliable. If your camera does not support automatic AF fine tune, then use some alternative approach such as dot fine tune or take a series of shots of a target and tilted ruler, whatever is your preference.
If you plan to use a TC with the 500 PF, then definitely fine tune the focus for the lens + TC combination as these can be way off the zero mark in many cases. I have not yet fine tuned my 1,4 with this lens because it is just too dark to even think about using the lens with TC right now.

the 500 PF also scored an Average of Zero (Range = -3 to +2, but most scores = 0; n=18) for fine-tuning on my D850. I widened the range as I didn't at first believe all the zero scores.
With the TC14 III, the lens averaged -9 (n=10, Range = -16 to -4).
Good advice, I also check the final AF adjustment against an inclined machinist's ruler.
My MFA was close -4 for bare lens and on first test was -16 with 1.4TCIII. That seemed a bit whacky to me as my 1.4TCIII has never thrown any of my other primes off by that much. I've done more in the field testing and settled around -12 with the 1.4x. The 1.7TCII showed close to zero so it obviously has a front focus tendency on this lens compared to the other two.
And enough with that, here are a few more images...
Awesome shots from all! We're almost home, one more day of driving and 10 inches of snow in the drive awaiting me I'm told. Mostly a petroglyphs and ruins trip (Poof's dream) but I got one or two bierds along the way.
Who among us has changed the lens collar and/or foot of this 500 PF lens?
Which did you change to?
Do you like the change that was made?
I'm back in the market for this lens. Called today, to get on the list. Came to realize that come spring, I'll want to make sure I have/test this lens for my work. Hope I love it and expect I will.
Thanks for any advice ya'll have for the collar/foot.

I went with the RRS foot, while out at Bosque, there was another photographer who had the 500pf with a foot that screws in which he highly recommended, I don't believe he mentioned the brand/manufacturer.
