I've had both. If you like the 200-500mm keep it. I only got keepers with portraits of birds. All my BIF pictures washed out. The act of point, focus and shoot took too long for me.
The 500PF was a game changer. Point was faster due to lighter weight, AF was faster due to less glass. I also think the 500PF is about a third of a stop faster.
I moved to the D500 from the D7500 at the same time. That might have been a factor.
For all of you with the D500+ 500mm PF: I'm very happy with the Blackrapid sport. It brings out all the best of system: Ready to shoot, ease of use, always right there for me. When I had the 200-500mm F5.6 I would attach a monopod and carry the lens across my shoulders. The sling really improves my shooting experience.
I attach the nut to the lens mount and check the tightness every time. The 500mm lens doesn't leave the camera, and the strap doesn't leave the lens. It's that good.
Sanderling(s) or in Dutch Drieteenstrandloper (try that one ) on a very dull day.
I like those little birds seeking food on the shoreline. Very difficult to catch in flight (at least for me).

At this time every year, the Eucalypt in our front yard displays it's orange flowers and the Rainbow Lorikeets come to feed. Always a delight to see.

Beautiful image (as always) Lance.
It's difficult to imagine something like this "in the front yard".
